Subject: Does Anyone Else Think Dr. Phil Is A Quack?

Written By: Indy Gent on 10/10/03 at 00:32 a.m.

I must be the only one here. Everyone else thinks Phil's Da Bomb. Just because of a few appearances on Oprah. And I hate it when he talks about his diet plans. Stifle, Phil ::).

From what I have seen of his show, basically it seems like he is just another "tell me your problem and I will tell you you are wrong...goodbye have a nice day..." kind of host. ::)

he serves no good, and no purpose.  In my opinion.

...and whats amazing, is some people worship him like hes the 2nd Coming. ::)

I've seen his show.  I think the appeal is his no-nonsense down-to-earth approach, sort of an antidote to the touchy-feely excuse mongers that often pass for psychotherapists these days.  Actually, I don't see how anyone could disagree with his message of self-reliance.  He basically tells people to quit cryin' and solve their problems.  It's accountability.  It's good.  That said, I'd watch more often if every other show wasn't about weight loss.

Ah... light dawns: I've wondered why Smurf&Mr Horse keep leaving comments on my parodies to "Dr Phil".  Never heard of chap till now, though

Phil

Oh Indy - Dr. Phil's okay.  I've heard that Oprah was majorly peeved and wanted him off her show because she thought he was becoming too popular.  It must be great to be able to solve complex problems in a half hour period ;)  It always makes me laugh when he gets tough with his guests.  It does annoy me when he gets his wife and son in on the act as well!

Why is he promoting weight loss when he is as fat a cow?You should see all the weight loss crap he has in stores and people think he is a weight loss guru?Chop my tongue off but I would rather see Richard Simmons run around like a fairy.

I agree with this message, Claude. But anyone can tell someone else the same thing. It's like wasting $100 or more on a shrink who just reads off the book. That's why I don't rely on Dr. Phil.

8) 8)I agree with the accountability part, like when he said he saved lots of calories by simply coming home through a different door each day---it seems he can'r help getting a snack when he walks through a kitchen!I think people like to hear from someone who isn't perfect but is comfortable with that .Cheers!

My Brooklyn-born Grandmother would give you the same no nonsense advice.  (Even if you didn't ask for it).  Dr. Phil could've learned a couple of things from her.  He is not revolutionary and not worthy of all the hoohaa.
