Subject: Worst TV Show of ALL-time

Written By: 80sRocked on 11/11/03 at 11:03 p.m.

I am sure this has been covered here at one time or another, but since not much is happening here recently, I thought I would bring this up.

So whats your choice for the WORST TV show of all-time?

My vote goes to the show "Sports Night"

It was supposed to be a comedy, in fact its in syndication on Comedy Central, but is the absolute most boring show ever.  I still haven't figured out why Comedy Central shows it, its just flat out boring.

The few times I've seen Will and Grace have annoyed the crap out of me.

Walker Texas Ranger

That show could make me rip my hair out.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is also pretty high up there on the 'just plain bad' list.

OK I'll show my age here but here are my nominees...

Turn On-(1969)  This show sucked so bad it was cancelled the morning after its first showing.  It was a poor "Laugh In" ripoff.  Starred Tim Conway.

Rango-(1967)  Named by IMDB.COM as the "worst comedy ever", it starred Tim Conway as cowboy Rango Starr.  Did not make it to 13 episodes.

Ace Crawford Private Eye-(1983) Lasted for all of 5 episodes.  Starred Tim Conway.

The Tim Conway Show-(1970)  This show was a ripoff of McHales Navy, as it costarred Joe Flynn ("Captain Binghampton").  Fared somewhat better than the above shows as it lasted all of one year.

Hey, Lyricboy, do I detect a pattern? ;D

IMO, all those teen angst shows are the worst.  The OC, Skin, Dawson's Creek, Beverly Hills 90210, etc.  I absolutely hate those shows.

Name any Aaron Spelling production, they all equally qualify for the worst show of all time........Love Boat, Fantasy Island, 90210, Melrose Place, etc.

But Ill give him credit he can sure find the crap that people suck up and has made a fortune out of it.

How about all of those whiney type shows of 10 years ago?

30-something:  Nothing like yuppie whiners

The Wonder Years:  Sounded like some failure in life talking to his therapist.  "Oh things were like this when I was young..."   "Oh shut up, live in the now!"

Dear John:  Oh yea, a show I wanna watch...  a bunch of divorced and dumped loosers wanting to comiserate together.  Like my own life was not bad enough, I want to hear other people bitch about not getting dates.

Rosanne:  Like my life is not screwed up enough, let's watch this fat lady and her dysfunctional family.  Then my life will not look so bad.

Cheers:  Something about a washed up alcoholic baseball player that runs a bar with a bunch of loosers hanging around just never appealed to me.  Maybe because I have worked in a bar before, and the only thing I met were alcoholics.

OK since my prior post regarding ancient history, here is a more up-to-date list of worst TV shows:

Yes, Dear - As far as I can tell the only two stars on this no-talent show are both found in actress Jean Louisa Kelly's bra.

The King of Queens - Leah Remini is just nasty.  She keeps tanning herself so much, her skin will be so leathery, she will be able to play the role of a catcher's mitt in a couple of years.  Why is Jerry Stiller playing in this drivel?

Just Shoot Me - This show is just a display of gratuitous immorality and sleazy jokes. (I am no prude, biut wouldn't it be nice to have some SUBTLETY like Seinfeld did?)

Oh yes, I forgot about all those.  They make my skin crawl.  Nothing more annoying than a bunch of rich kids crying and whining about things over and over, not to mention they are always sleeping around with everyone in town.

Speaking of kids whining and crying, and sleeping with everyone, another one I hate is "The Real World". ::)  I'll admit, I used to be a fan, back when it first started.  But in the last 5-6 years, its unbearable to watch.  All they do is cry and complain and everything is sooooo dramatic.  Hate it.

hmm..I would say Cop Rock, but its so bad its funny....Sports Nights up there (Though, their first episode was pretty good...probably contained the one joke I ever laughed at on that show...)..um, Murder One, Dr Quinn, Bette, The Woopi Goldberg Show, Yes Dear (Its just Everybody loves Raymond reruns, but bad)....Strangers with Candy, Strip Mall, TRL, The Edge, Partridge Family, Brady Bunch, Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Beverly Hill 90210, Cagny and Lacy, Mcmillian and Wife, my Two dads, Father knows best, anything on Lifetime except Murphy Brown, king of the Hill, Making it, Ozzie and Harriet,

I dont know, there are more

Homeboys from Outerspace
Do I even need to say why this show was so bad?

The Heights
I think it was a Melrose place rip off

California Dreams
hee..heee...hee...

Blind Date
For the few times that I actually sat through this show, someone was always in the hot tub.

I could name a WHOLE lot more shows that shouldn't have been aired, but these i think are the worst offenders.

You touched on a lot of bad shows, but here are my worst all-time list.

Supertrain (Soap opera/comedy junk)
3rd Rock From The Sun (it was halarious the first season, then it went downhill fast.)
Scrubs (My sister loves this comedy, but I couldn't get the jokes without the laugh track.)
Will and Grace (Not because it's about gays. Because it's not funny.)
Smallville (Another series my sister likes that I don't get the attraction for.)
The Dukes of Hazzard (Yep, you read that right.)
Murder She Wrote (How many murdered friends did Jessica Fletcher have? Did anyone bother to take count?)
Dharma and Greg (Dhreadful)
Veronica's Closet
Kelly Kelly
Pearl
Becker
Ink
The George Wendt Show (There would have been a "Cheers" curse similar to the "Seinfeld Curse" if the viewers didn't have the delusion that Danson is funny.)
Bob (The Newhart Show that sank.)
And any show on UPN.

Boy you folks sure have seen a lot of bad shows, and I'm not going to debate anyone of them.  I do my best to avoid series that I think I won't like.  I have to add one of the worst shows of all time....
Three's Company
Yep, it may be a bit insensitive for me to state that with the recent passing of John Ritter but that show really sucked bad.  The characters were shallow and stupid, the acting was horrid, and it lasted for at least 4 to many seasons.

I may have a new contender!

"Rich Girls"

Its another, yes another, reality show about the Hilfiger daughters.  From what I have seen the last 10 minutes, its basically these 2 girls going around New York spending money, and dealing with such "life-changing" issues as "like, omg, I need a new prom dress.  Like, omg I am so scared. Like..." ::)

I HATE reality shows.

Happy days was a much better show early in it's start.  It was more of a family 50's dyanmic kind of thing, but it went to crap when it became more Fonzi based.  Of course it started when I was in 2nd grade so don't put to much crdit to my evaluation. ;)

I say the same thing today when I see the reruns!  I would be like, "It's Ms. Fletcher! Run away!"

Did you ever notice how many friends she had that were in congress?  And if she was so great at solving murders, then why didn't she leave writing and become a famous dectective??

The episode I watched today on A&E had Ms. Fletcher receive a MILLION dollar check from a friend!  What does she say?? This is what, "I think there is a charity that could use this million dollars."  :o ERR! She was crazy!!!!! I would have taken the money and kept it for myself.

Edit: Just fixed some of the question marks.

Let's see Bad Shows:

Lyon's Den(they wre hyping this show up this year so much on NBC I thought I should watch.) Tried to watch it for 30 minutes I just could not watch. There are alot of dark settings too in that show. That doesn't help. Doesn't Rob Lowe deserve better?

Anything on the Life-time channel.

Girlfriends( haven't we seen this show before? I mean you had Designing Women, Living Single, and than Sex and The City.) The show has been done over and over again.

Boom-town(even throwing Vanessa Williams onto the show is not going to help ratings.)

2 seasons ago "the Practice"- I mean chopped off heads in the freezer and stabbing Judges. It was just too off the wall a couple years ago.  I think David Spader makes this show interesting and actually watchable again. I don't know what to make of Sharon Stone's guest appearence for a couple of episodes.

The Wonder Years: I remember that it was just boring. I remember when eveybody was going crazy over it. I never understood the big deal over it 12 years ago or even now.

American Dreams: another snoozer.

I agree. It's not funny unless you find humor in transparent stereo-typing. The wife is annoying to no end, "Bobby" is just weird and the sister talks ugly. The only part of the show that is even remotely close to funny is when the guys are standing outside chit-chatting.

I also don't get why mediocre shows are allowed to remain on the air, yet a good and intelligent show like "John Doe" gets cancelled.  >:(

My opinion for worst TV show of all time is the first "reality" show of the 1990's. I don't know exactly which one it was, but it spurred the cursed, never-ending trend, for which TV now rightly deserves the name "boob-tube".

I know a lot of people like this show, but I can't stand "The View."  All they do is sit around and whine and gripe about things that they can have absolutely no control over.  And, they all talk at the same time.  How are you supposed to hear them make their points if they are all talking at the same time.  Even when they have a guest on, they all ask questions at the same time.  SNL used to have a parody of it that was way much better than the real show.
