I have had the flu for four days!!!!!! That's why I'm bored. Anyone else have the flu?? :-/

I had it over Thanksgiving.
I got to spend the holiday weekend on the couch puking my guts out. Actually, it lasted nearly 8 days before I was fully over it.
Hopefully that is it for the year.

Never had the Flu yet, but it's supposed to be a bad flu season this year. I went to my mom 3 weeks ago and said we should get our shots this year. Her response was "No, we don't have the time and the vaccination sites are on the other side of the city." I don't like the reasons she gave me, the shots are free to everyone here, so there isn't many reasons why not to get them. I didn't argue with her (it would have been pointless) but I told my family if they catch the flu, don't come complaining to me, I warned you.

Regarding Flu shots:
I have to admit I'm not completely sold on them. In my experience, if you're going to get the flu, your going to get it. Even with the flu shot.
Last season, several people I know got the shot, and still got sick. 2 of them actually got very sick less than a week after getting the shot.
Personally, I've never had a flu shot. And some years I get the flu, and others I don't. This year I did, but the last 3 years I didn't, and that was also with no flu shot.

Had the flu couple of years ago and don't recommend it. I refer to it as the "sleeping death sickness."

Sorry to hear you are sick, Annie. hope you get better.
Out here (Utah) we have a severe case of the flu going around. They are saying it is a mutated strain that getting the shot wouldn't have prevented. People are even dying, so take care of yourself.

Actually, you may even contract the flu BECAUSE of the shot. They are giving you antibodies so you body can build up an immunity but sometimes the reverse happens. There is a shortage of the flu vaccination here in New York now and are only giving it to babies, pregnant women and the elderly. As someone pointed out however, there is a strain that does not react to this shot.

I've had the flu and occasionally laryngitis.102 fever with sore throat,aching stuffy head and runny nose. :(

yes thats what I've heard.
Besides, I will never be able to get a flu vaccine even with I wanted to. The flu vaccine has a high content of chicken egg, strangley enough. And for those of us that are allergic to poultry (that means no chicken, no turkey, nothing with feathers), we can never get the flu vaccine because of its egg content.
My doctor told me it could be fatal if I took the shot.

The flu bites big time. I just got over mine. I had a severe case to the point of being utterly useless for weeks. I had any and all symptoms and I get exhausted just even typing about it.

:o I'm getting you sick, I'm sorry. I am feeling better today. I am even enjoying a nice glass of Crown and Coke ;D.
I never get the FLU shot, I figure that the body is designed to fight viruses on its own. If we over medicate our bodies then how are we supposed to become immune to new strands. just a thought.

I had the flu shot. Now I have the flu. The worst part of having the flu is having to drink theraflu. Drinking it makes me throw up.

so that begs the question, why do you drink it? :)
When I have the flu, the only thing that does anything to help is Tylenol. It lowers fever and helps with the headache. All the other flu products never touched anything, and yes, it is digusting to drink.

The flu I haven't had it yet this year. Usually its once a year I get some kind of illness is just matter of when. The job I have you have to be there all the time so its a pain to call out. Last year when I got sick it happened on a Friday. Was sick on Saturday and then rested on Sunday. Good thing it happened at the end of a week.

I have not had the flu since 98 (thank God).
I have not had the vaccine since I was 18.
Once I got of age, I refused to be forced into getting yearly injections that I thought were stupid.
I have this thing against medication, I prefer to let my immune system do it's job. Needless to say, I haven't got anything worse than a cold in a long time.
