Subject: British Actor Alan Bates Dies

Written By: Indy Gent on 12/28/03 at 08:38 p.m.

Alan Bates, the British actor best known for his theatrical work, but also appeared in many movies, dies over the weekend. He was 69. His work in films includes an Oscar nominated role in "The Fixer", as well as roles in "The Caretaker", "Georgy Girl", "An Unmarried Woman", "The Rose", and "Gosford Park". He was scheduled for work in the miniseries "Spartacus" when he died Satuday in London. A talented gentleman that will be sorely missed.  :'(

He was well known in Aus, Indy.  It is a sad loss of a well respected actor from the old school  :(
