Subject: Seventh Day Adventists-Are they Saved??

Written By: AndrewTalkingWalnut on 01/13/04 at 04:44 p.m.

Even today in the 21st century, their is a Great deal of Debate Regarding the SDA's
are they Christian or Cult?
No offense to anyone who is a SDA

The Bible is a VERY difficult book to properly interpret, I like to think that when we go to Heaven, God gives us the perfect and true Interpretation of the Bible as only he would know.

No one properly knows what will happen in the afterlife as no one has actually been dead and come back to life, remembering what happened while he/she was dead

Seventh Day Adventism is basically Christian in nature. It is not a cult per se.

SDA's hold to the essential doctrines of Christianity which are briefly as follows:

The deity of Christ (Jesus is God)

Salvation by grace

Resurrection of Christ

The Gospel (Jesus is God in flesh, who died for sins, rose from the dead, and freely gives the gift of eternal life to those who believe.)

You can read more here.

The basic difference between SDA's and other Christian churches is that they worship on Saturday (hence, the name) instead of Sunday. This is a minor doctrinal point, not one that decides salvation.

The Bible can be a difficult book, but if you can read at a 4th or 5th grade level, you can understand it.

I did some extensive research on the SDA's founder William Miller. He prodicted that the world was going to end around 1844. His followers gave away all their posessions, donned white robes, and went on roof tops and trees so the trip to Heaven would be shorter. I wonder how many present day SDAs are aware of this.

As I have said many, many times before, religious beliefs are very personal. Everyone has the right to believe whatever they believe-just as long as they reconigize my right to believe what I believe.

Yeah, that's messed up, isn't it. SDA's were actually called "Millerites". Their official website has the history of Miller and the SDA's on it, they actually believe that Jesus did do something monumental in 1844, but not exactly what Miller had expected. I find this all very questionable.

Not to be nit-picky but actually, Miller predicted that Jesus would return in 1844, not necessarily the end of the world.

At any rate, a leader of a Christian denomination ought to know that the Bible states that no one, not even Jesus, knows the time of His second coming except the Father.
