Subject: So, the Grammys.

Written By: My_name_is_Kenny on 02/10/04 at 10:29 a.m.

No, no one cares.  I already realize that.  No one cares enough to be outraged that whoever did or didn't get an award.

But making a few observations:

Justin Timberlake finally succeeds in his quest to make me like him.

A funk jam where Parliament-Funkadelic is the worst thing about it can't be anything but awesome.

Andre 3000 manages to give the best acceptance speech ever ("thank you").

50 Cent wins nothing, and I applaud the Grammy's wise decision.

The RIAA unveils their anti-downloading campaign, which manages to be the most worthless and unconvincing propaganda since TheTruth.com

We got to witness White Stripes actually go nova while onstage.

Beyonce continues to be unable to emote even a little while singing.

I've got to agree 100% with everything you said.  What the heck was Beyonce doing onstage with Prince?  She looked like she was going into convulsions.

I have to admit, though, I flipped back and forth, but I managed to see everything you said above. ;)

The Grammys were boring.

1.  Christina Aguilera deserve an "anonymous" slap.  Does she REALLY think she looks good? ::)  Her "glam team" deserves a slap and a karate kick to the face.

2.  I liked the Prince/Beyonce performance.  But come on...the bird thing was WAAAAAY over the top and unnecessary.

3. Buckethead rocks.

4.  50 cent annoys me ::)

5.  I liked the White Stripes

6.  Ahhh....I would comment some more but nothing else worth mentioning... ::)

Yeah at the end of the song...a dove flew to Beyonce's hand.  She had some birdfeed in her hand...and of course...on que...the bird flew to her hand.  If that was an attempt to look "wholesome" I wasn't buying it.  LOL  :-X

I just happened to turn to it by chance just as Outkast was giving the acceptance speech.

It was straight and to the point:

"Thank You".

Now if all the speeches were like that, award shows would be so much better...and shorter. :)

Earth,Wind And Fire really shook the house that night with "Shining Star". Phillip Bailey still has the voice even at his age. :D

weirdiest pairing ever at the Grammys:
Foo Fighters and Chick COrea.....huh?  where did that pairing come from?

White Stripes, Justin Timberlake and th Black Eyed Peas were amazing....truely great prformances, but nothing, and I mean nothing can possibly beat the Funk Jam with Earth Wind and Fire, RObert Randolph, Outkast (Big Boi and Sleepy Brown) and George Clinton (and Parlimnt Funkadelic), nothing, well, except for Andres Incredably beyond amazing performance at the end of the show....by far the best performance of the night (and in a night where there wre so many great performances....)

I was kinda hoping for th WHite Stripes to win Album of the year, but I knw that it was Outkasts year....Im overly happy that Clocks won, but yet again, Chris Martin cant keep the politics out of the speech.....

THe Prince and Beyonce performance wasnt that bad...I think that too many people are coming down on this for no reason.....

The grammys really must hate the Beatles..what the hell was that prformace....Vince Gil? Vince GIl?!?!?!!?  WHat the hell?
I think I would have been happier if Oasis did one of THEIR OWN SONGS as a tribute to the Beatles, rather than hav seen Vince Gil wreck that song... (and nothing against Sting, Dave or Pherrell....at least not for that performance...I have pleanty against them for other things)....

Neptunes won producer of th year....gee, I was kinda hoping for Phil Spector lol....actully, I guess that was a pretty good choice...thy are good producers, but I wouldnt go out of my way for them

Warren Zevon won best folk album and something else....alright, I guess I can live with that....I wantd him to win SOng of the year though...........
His tribute was weird

Sean Paul wrecked Roxanne, and Sting allowed him too

I doubt that it was intentional, but something in my mind keeps on hopeing that Celine Dions Microphone problms were done on purpose.......

I heard 50 came onstage as Evanesence was accepting their "Best New Artist Award". Amy Lee(lead singer for Evanescence said to 50: "Thank You". I think Evanescence deserved it. I like 50 when he did "21 Questions". His other songs really don't spark my interest.

I was at work and didn't get to see most of the Grammys.  I did watch a lot of pre-show coverage, and I saw Joan Rivers interview Ruben Studdard.  After kissing up to him and telling him how great he is, she said, "It was nice talking to you, and please, lose some weight.  You need to take care of yourself, we want you around for a long time."  Ruben said, "I like myself the way I am, I eat healthy, but this is the way I am."  Joan then went on to tell him that he still needs to lose weight.  Ruben smiled at Joan, said, "God bless you Ms. Rivers," and walked away.  You should have seen the snarl on his face when he walked away.  If looks could kill...

Billy,

I am by no means a Vince Gill fan, but quite frankly his vocals on the "Beatles Tribute" bit were VASTLY better than either Sting's or Dave Matthews' vocals.  Sting and Matthews simply sucked and their singing was off-key.

The drummer (Pherrell?) did a great job IMHO.

@Hannahbear:  I saw that Joan Rivers interview.  I know I couldn't believe she said what she said.  LOL  Even though, I agree that he should lose some weight...at least for health reasons.  But he could have easily turned around and said...that she needed to stop getting facelifts.  Trying to maintain a youthful look is NOT working.  LOL ::)

Was it really necessary for Justin Timberlake to keep on apologizing at The Grammys that night?  ???
