Subject: Worried about GARFIELD movie

Written By: Andrew-CoolestDude on 02/11/04 at 10:42 a.m.

I loove Garfield, I have a feeling the Garfield Movie will be a Cheap Hollywood Bastardization of the cartoon show and comic strip,

I mean, if you saw the trailer, Garfield is talking, that's soo wrong, with Garfield you hear his thoughts, and the Odie is a Real Dog, and Nermal and Arlene are real cats also,
How could they screw up so badly? They should all be CGI,
what the Heck are they thinking???
What about Irma the Waitress or Binky the Clown?

Matthew Lilliard in Scooby Doo was Dead accurate as Shaggy, so true to the character, I doubt Breckin Meyer will be as good as Jon Arbuckle.

In my opinon, the use of "special effects" has gone WAY out of control.

Used in a very limited role, special FX can be cool.  But lately I see FX beung used to correct what is really uncreative moviemaking (like in the Charlies Angels sequel), to to simply fix up blemishes due to poor camera technique and shot composition.

The most frequent FX I see any more is in commercials where they "fog out" a woman's arm pits because I guess nobody really wants to see them.  Well, if that is the case, then why aim the camera there in the first place?

If Jim Davis, Garfield's drawer, and Garfield fans approved the script, then I might be curious to see it. But I'm not too enthusiastic to see Breckin Meyer as Jon Arbuckle, and the plot doesn't sound promising.

I'm not too crazy about the idea of a Garfield movie. Lorenzo Music is dead; they should come to terms with it. Also, wasn't Breckin Meyer on the TV series, "Inside Schwartz"? What a big hit that was. ::)

Also, nobody can replicate Lorenzo Music's voice, not even Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Wilford Brimley, James Garner, Jack Nicholson.

I think they should leave Garfield alone. That would be like replacing Donald Pleasence in Halloween with Sean Astin. It wouldn't be the same:

SEAN ASTIN: Sheriff Frodo, I am looking for Michael Myers. He has the One Ring and could destroy the world with it!!

When I was little, I would build with my LEGO blocks and pretend I was building GARFIELD's house.
Yeah Garfield.

Some Advertisement lines for the GARFIELD movie

A Hero won't Rise
A star is borred
It's about Cat-itude
It's all about Me-ow
What are you starring at
So much time, so little to do.
