It was snowing earlier. At one point it looked like a blizzard out there but it didn't last. I think we got a total of a dusting.

Blah...I hate winter. :P

Its snowing here right now (northern Indiana).  It went from a glorious and rare (for this time of year) 61 degrees last weekend, to cold and snow the last couple days.

We have a bizarre association with snow in the UK. It snows at least once a year, but loads of stuff comes to a standstill through lack of preparation, even if it's just a couple of inches; everyone gets really excited, then it melts into cruddy slush in no time. Plus we have this saying that "it's too cold to snow" when it's only a small amount below 0 degrees C- I'm sure the Poles & Canada are colder than that & it still snows there...
I buried my paternal grandfather in heavy snow last week. I was one of the coffin bearers at the funeral, we had to carry the old chap up a 20% incline path (which the funeral directors had very kindly not cleared), then across a similar sideways slope. I nearly slipped into the grave as we lowered him down, and we all had small snowdrifts on the side of our heads by the time the ceremony was finished. Whilst the overall effect was stunning & memorable, I was very glad my brother had the foresight to bring a flask of Cognac along... :'(

A few years back we had to bury my grandfather in the winter...they don't even try in my home town you'd need TNT to break ground so we drove out to the grave yard, carried the old boy out to this little building and set him and the coffin up on a rack they have in there and waited til spring.  Was really fun all of us dressed in suits etc, snow up to there and finally having to push the hearse out of the snowbank it got stuck in.

And the UN rated Canada the number country in the world 3 years in a row?!

Well, I don't want to sound like I'm gloating, but its been in the 80s here in Vegas. I can't say I miss the snow in New England, or I'd be lying!

Don't say I'm lucky though. While most of you guys are going to be enjoying summer in a couple months, I'm going to be practically dying in 120 degree + heat.

Feel better now? I don't. That scares me, cuz I'm still thick blooded from the New England weather!Ah well,  what can I do, I got myself into it.

Hopefully I'll be moving soon anyways, so, i just have to hang on.(To the air conditioner!)

Boo hoo!!  :P

That's one thing about working outside, it is easier to keep warm in cold weather than it is to keep cool in blazing heat.

My theory is, you can always put on another sweater or another blanket but when it is hot, there is just so much you can take off.  :o

It's snowing in central IL -- not sticking yet, but someone told me they're expecting about 4 inches to stick before it stops.  Here's hoping they're wrong and it stops before it sticks.

It's starting. Hubby is hoping that it really comes down so he doesn't have to go to school tomorrow (I remember doing that as a kid but he is the teacher  :o). Unfortunately, I HAVE to go in tomorrow. I walk so I don't have to worry about driving in it but I am expecting a delivery so I don't know. I would rather have it come down tomorrow night instead of tonight. Oh well.

Well the snow did fall this morning, but a good part of it melted by the afternoon. So unless there's another snow storm within the next 5 days, we'll be in the clear until the official start of spring.

Yep, I live in a small town about 3 hours south of Chicago... between Decatur and Bloomington.   Our snow was pretty deep and slick for a couple of hours that morning... a real nail-biter driving the kids to school... and then it was gone by noon.   It's supposed to be quite nice, this afternoon.
