Man, that bites.  Jan and Dean were pioneers in the early years of rock and roll, especially surfer music.

R.I.P., Jan  :'(

You did it right, my man.  :D

Was Jan Berry the one who was paralysed in the car accident in 1966?

OK, that's what I thought, I wasn't positive.
I always liked their songs, especially Dead Man's Curve, which has such terrible irony for them.
I saw a documentary about their brief comeback facilitated by the Beach Boys around 1980 or so.  I thought it was disgraceful the way their "friends" took advantage of Jan after his accident.  They seemed to enjoy wheeling him around and spending his money.

Terrible news that...but not altogether unexpected...

At least there's still the great music to remember him by - okay, so he wasn't exactly a revolutionary force, but both guys displayed a superb sense of humour which often shines through on their records...

Will be sadly missed...off to play Anaheim, Asuza & Cucamonga, etc. in his honour...

Also sad news with...

Doris Troy...superb 60's soul songstress best known for the original version of 'Just One Look' (but she made many other worthy sides), who passed away on 16th February...

RIP both...and thanks for much great music...

Yeah, she had just turned 67 in January. Did she have any hits besides "Just One Look"?

Not in her homeland. Mr X, but she did have one very miniscule hit here with 'Whatcha Gonna Do About It' in 1964...a smashing 'last dance' song, it was much played in the discotheques at that time...

Well worth checking out, as is most of her Atlantic material...

Can't believe it!   At least I got to meet and talk with him for about an hour in 2000.  Amazing how he sat and waited to talk to each and every fan that stopped by....and didn't try to cut them short......he would talk and listen to you as long as you were in front of him......
A very incredible man who cared about each and every fan he had....I have never seen such devotion to ones fans.....he will be missed very much....especially by me.....I was hoping to meet him again one day.......thats OK I have his Music
