I heard about this last night from a friend and read about it on the yahoo link.
Al has been my all time favorite performer since the 80s. and the only artist that I have enjoyed every single song he has created. this news has hit me as hard as if it had happend to a close friend.
this is a very depressing time, My condolences to AL and friends of the family.
now when I see his parents introduce him on the concert DVD I have, I will always be saddened by this tragic event.

I also was shocked. I have been a fan of his for a great many years, and know how much his parents supported him. While many things came to him late in life (his marriage), at least his parents also were with him for a long time.

I don't know how Al feels about this because the news hasn't reported his response...but I hope it's not so devastating that he stops creating... :-/

This is a shock to hear. I saw his parents on his Behind the Music. You could tell they were proud of Al.
Al put a message up on his official page, and apparently he will be finishing the tour he's doing right now, because his music has made him feel a little better.

I sorry to hear about Al's parents. I know they were elderly, but no one deserves to lose both their parents that way. A tragedy indeed. :'(
