Subject: The movie "The Day After Tomorrow" was it really that Cheesy?

I haven't seen the Movie yet, was it really as corny as some people have said it was?
If you had to choose between that movie, and Independance Day, which would you choose?

I saw it once. It was ok but tended to be on the long side. I think the cheese factor was in the hype surrounding it, it was portrayed as this scary and very serious film. Frankly I think what did this movie in was that it should be released during the early days of the cold war. However by the time it was released people already knew that they were screwed if it ever came to that.
