Subject: Coke or Pepsi?

Written By: GWBush2004 on 06/08/04 at 10:25 pm

Mine is Coke, no-doubt.  Its bold and fizzy not overly sweet like Pepsi which explains why most of the kiddies like it. :)  But seriously Coke.

I stopped drinking pop more than 2 years ago. Someone told me that Carbonation takes away oxygen from your red blood cells making it harder for you to breathe and making your conditioning worse. Since I was in wrestling and I ran a lot I stopped drinking pop. Now that I'm no longer in wrestling, and I don't much have a motivation to run, I still don't drink pop, but don't have a good reason why.

Anyway when I did drink pop I liked Coke better than Pepsi but I liked Diet Pepsi better than Diet Coke.

Weird.

My guess is its a fancy beer bong with anti-splash goggles. ;)

But for the question, I like Sprite.  (yea i had to be different, but colas always seems so syrupy and heavy, and just make me more thirsty)

I like Canada Dry ginger ale for lighter fare.  Whenever I had a fever when I was a kid, I got Canada Dry and Saltines.

Scientists are also now linking all carbonated drinks (including seltzer) to cancer of the esophogas.  Something about the carbonation doing major damage to the lining.  Consumption of soda has increased 600% since the 1950's and the rate of esophogeal cancer has risen 500% according to the report I heard.  Medical studies have also shown a link.  I'm not preaching to anyone because I like soda as much as the next person.  Just thought I'd pass that along.

When I do drink soda, Coke is my favorite.  Pepsi is a bit too sweet for me.

I you adjust your life according to every scientific study on the detrimental effects of something or other, you'll wind up living in a hermetic chamber.  These "studies" are often contradicted by other data, but the Chicken Little big science publicity machine releases only simplistic reports to the media.

I know that Maxwell.  If I adjusted my life to fit every study that has ever been done on things that are detrimental, yes, I would never leave my house.  I am not telling everyone that they will die if they continue to drink soda, I was just saying what I heard. Better to err on the side of caution.

Between those, I'd have to say Pepsi.  (My favorite is actually Mountain Dew )

Coke just tastes like syrup to me.  Probably because as a teenager, all we had at school for soda was a Coke machine.  I didn't often eat an actual breakfast, so my "breakfast", at about 7:00 in the morning, consisted of a Coke and an occasional bag of "Grandmother's Cookies".

It worked at 16 and 17, but it just doesn't work the same now!  :-[

Diet Vanilla Pepsi...but I have cut way down on my soda drinking.

Pepsi and Diet Pepsi Vanilla are quite delicious and I think they have Coke beat there. However regular Coke and Diet Coke leave Pepsi way behind.

Subject: Re: Coke or Pepsi?

Written By: FanOfTheMonkees on 06/15/04 at 2:54 pm

I said coke because it is true. I find pepsi a little too sweet for me. Actually I went down to diet from regular coke because of all the sugar they put in coke. But, diet coke has aspartame in it which gives you cancer so I guess I should stop drinking coke completely. And I don't think Dr. Phil would recommend pop either.

I remember the "Pepsi Challenge" back in the 1980's,  and while I chose Pepsi back then I have since come to the conclusion that the "test" was unfavorably skewed towards Pepsi. I recall that it was done inside a mall, during the winter months, and both colas wee served at room temperature in small sippy cups. Had they done it outside in the middle of July, with both colas served ice cold (and in servings big enough to slam), I believe Coke would've won by a landslide. Pepsi may be sweeter but it doesn't have that "bite" that makes Coke so good on a hot summer day.  :)

Bobby,

Back in 1969, "Ted" Kennedy decided to go for a drive with a young woman (not his wife) by the name of Mary Jo Kopechne, in an area of Massachusets known as "Chappaquiddick".  Somewhere along the line, his car decided to go airborne and landed upside-down in a body of water (which is usually what happens when a car goes for a swim).

Anyway, Teddy managed to get himself free of the wreckage and there were several hours that elapsed between him issuing the "deep dive" order for the car, and actually notifying the police.  To make a long story short, Mary Jo drowned in that wreck.  :\'(

Teddy managed to come up with all sorts of stories as to why he did not flag down the cops right away.  Interestingly the people of Massachusets continue to elect him to the position of US Senator, but any time after that, when he attempted to run for a national office, the cry of "Chappaquiddick" quickly extinguished his efforts.

Thus the goggles and snorkel.  :P

Pepsi by far, both regular and diet.  All I drink is Pepsi, only coke product I drink is Sprite, but now even with Sierra Mist that Pepsi has put out I doubt I will even buy Sprite that often anymore.  I have always thought Pepsi was smoother tasting as well.  After drinking nothing but Pepsi for a while and if I try to drink a Coke it taste terrible.  Pepsi is prefered by all my friends and family as well so it isn't hard to shop for sodas for us.

Pepsi is too sweet, too sticky and too heavy on the stoumach.

Of course.. we all know Dr Pepper is the superior drink  ;D

Here in the U.K it's fairly obvious Coke is the most popular. I'd say around 65-70% of bars and pubs serve coke not Pepsi and Coke takes up far more shelf space than Pepsi.

Like McDonalds Mickey Dees, they're getting to the latest young generation that worships thugs and rap-crap ::)

McDonalds always has the youth on their side.  That one Hardees commercial hit it right on the nose, the one with the pregnant lady sitting in a chair at a doctors office eating a Hardees burger and the commentator said something a long the lines of "Better enjoy it now becuase it will be nothing but McDonalds for the next 12 years."

I have never been a fan of McDonalds.  I have always felt they are a rip-off.  I havent had one of their hamburgers in probably 7 or 8 years.  Last burger I had there I got a double cheeseburger and couldn't even see the meat and that was it for me haven't had another one since.  Though their salads are not all that bad.

I totally love the "old school" McDonalds of the past.....their ads in the 70's/80's and even early 90's were really cool! I have a few collector items from the early 70-80's.....but nowadays....it totally SUCKS...as does nearly every other advertisment......I say: Bring back the old (retro) ads and commercials...that would be awesome to see!!

I dumped them both after they switched to High fructose corn syrup.

Found a site that gets their Coke from Mexico which still usues sugar cane!
The web site is sodapopstop.com

lots from around the country..even Jamaican Cream soda if you like it!

I feel the same way about Dr. Pepper...it was way better with cane sugar. I drink mostly water and lemonade now. BTW, the ONLY think I like about pepsi is they inavertantly burned Michael Molester Jackson's hair back in that '83 commercial ;D

Yup it's exactly the same as normal coke. Same with Dr Pepper Zero.
