Having held the French at arm's length for half the match, Beckham missing a penalty (after Silvestre should have been sent off for bringing down Rooney), England lose their opening round match to France 2:1 with both French goals scored in injury time... a corker of a freekick from Zidane (t'was the first decent kick the so-called "best footballer of all time" had all match); the second Zidane goal came from a penalty after a howler of a back-pass from Gerrard.

Yeah. Bobo and I were trying to come to terms with it - a total heartbreaker! What can you say about a team that, let's face it, showed little sign of scoring a goal for 90 odd minutes (even while they were attacking) only to score twice in 2 minutes!
Gerard has a lot to answer for. ;)

Ah! The frustrations of being an England supporter...
I don't think I've ever seen a pub clear out so quick...!
(But I certainly know of at least one Australian who'll be killing himself laughing...!!)

England have proven yet again that no-one should celebrate until the final whistle. I certainly do not anymore because England have done the same thing so many times before. :\'(

I don't think Aussies have any right to laugh at other nations regarding football (well, except New Zealand, that is :D ) after our brilliant 2-2 draw with the Solomon Islands...

I was having a joke with my girlfriend that France were going to win the match after the first goal went in - I should've just kept my mouth shut.

Heh! Don't worry, it was no-one here...the Aussie I'm referring to is a bloke I work with...and, yes! He creased up...!
As did our Chief Accountant (Welsh), and a couple of young ladies of Scottish extraction...
Not a fantastic weekend all-round, what with the All Blacks mauling us at the rugby...mind you, we done all right on the cricket side...can this be right?!!
Anyway...down but not out...roll on Thursday...
