Subject: I've heard of students using text and soap speak in their exams.

This news article was on the Newsround website (www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/newsround). One girl wrote her exam paper in text language (For sending an SMS) which asked her to write a letter to a friend.
On the other hand, phrases like, "I will always be there for you," and "I was well bored," were picked up from soaps like EastEnders. Examiners spotted that easily. I never wrote my exam papers in text or soap language.

Sign of the times, I suppose, what with the influence of TV and other factors...
My exam answers were written in a quaint old language called 'English' using quaint old instruments called 'pens' and 'brains' - there certainly wasn't any of this 'plagarising' lark and stealing of exam papers when I were a lad...!!
And as for 'text' - it's lost on me...I can't understand a word of the stuff...!!

As long as they are penalised for using soap and text speak, I can rest happily knowing I got good grades in English for a reason. :)
