Subject: TV SHOW THEMES GONE?

Written By: saver on 07/11/04 at 5:51 pm

As times change over the decades, have you noticed there aren't any TV show themes played on the modern music stations anymore?

In the 60's you had Peter Gunn, the 70's- Welcome Back Kotter/Taxi,Hill St. Blues, the 80's- St. Elsewhere, the 90's- Friends

Will this music ever come back? Or are the themes so bad they can't find a good one to latch on to? Or who needs TV songs on radio?

What'd ya think? 8)

I think when these songs/shows came out, they promoted both the song and the show. Today, they are not promoting the song. Of course it could be because the songs are not very good.

Well I don't know. Back in the 70s/80s, shows had themes that were written specifically for them. Now most productions seem to adapt songs that are already popular as use them as themes ("Charmed" uses "What Time is Now", for example).
