I can't think of any examples off the top of my head, but some of the people who have appeared on that show really did need some surgery. I don't think it was just a matter of low self-esteem. I have seen some people on that show who really don't need the surgery and weren't that ugly, but some of them really did need it.

I think the show that takes the cake has to be that American Idol parody where they took the worst singers and made it seem like they were really good. I can't remember the name of it. I know that show is over now, but I couldn't even stand watching even ten minutes into the first episode.

I think all the reality shows are getting tiresome...and I've never liked "The West Wing".....they may as well call it the "Left" Wing ::)

I can see your point there. However, IMHO, 90% of cosmetic surgeries are due to low self-esteem and low self-acceptance. Unless there is a medical condition, what's the real point of cosmetic surgery?

A lot of MTV, not all of it, but a lot of it.

I'd say a lot of reality TV shows or TV shows that make all Americans out ot be unmoral unvauled unethical pieces of crap.

How about that Paris Hilton thing the Simple life or the Swan now there was taking advantage of low self esteem people and then putting them through a pageant?  both got about 15 minutes of my time.

Simple Life is stupid.I watched the other night where Paris and Nicole went into Burger King and ordered 2 Large Fries,2 Large Shakes,2 Cheeseburgers,2 Salads and their total came out to 22.03 and they didn't even come up with the money so they both asked somebody for 15.00. ::) & also they were housemaids for a hotel and occassionally they got lazy and refused to do their jobs and played on the kiddie swings. ::)

Over here in the UK we have a show called "You Are What You Eat", which I suppose could be argued has a genuine intent to inform and educate the British public about a better, healthier diet.

However, on the one time I watched it, there was a completely tasteless and unecessary section on colonic irrigation of some overweight woman and....*gag*....analysis of the results.

I have not watched again.

MTV used to be 'cutting-edge' musicwise(with stuff like "120 Minutes" and "Alternative Nation") and VH-1 used to be the 'mellower' channel...Since MTV has become crappy and VH-1 plays the rockers I like now...I have no use for MTV. MTV has lost what made it special during it's first ten years....shame on them!

MTV puts too much time into the SHOWS now......they have forgotten the reason people watched in the FIRST place...the MUSIC VIDEOS..Why did MTV start running regular TV fair such as game shows,cartoons,and and series is beyond me...maybe viewership dropped off after people got used to the 'novelty' of music videos 24/7/365?

After seeing FEAR FACTOR it makes me  :) when I think the parents of some of the contestants can recall when their kid didn't like oatmeal, but for a 'chance' at a prize, they'll eat bull manure.

Maybe the secret to getting  'someone' to do crap work is to make it a competition. Ya think they'd line up around the block if I told them the object is to make my bathroom shine for a free trip to their native homeland??!  ;)

Hey now, Outback Jack is a great show.  It is pure comic relief to see these pampered princesses dropped in the wilderness and have to deal with bugs and stuff. 

Teletubbies and Barney...Those shows treat young children as if kids that age are stupid. PBS,shame on you...where are the PBS shows that treat kids like they have some INTELLIGENCE? "Mister Rogers" and "Electric Company" never were 'dumbed-down' for kids!

speaking of PBS shows...I tend to really like most of the shows they play on there, as Vaughn watches a lot of programs on that particular channel, however, as I was watching one of the shows with him, I couldn't believe how crazy one of them was. It was a cartoon about a 5 year old little boy and it's called "Calliou".  I swear, the entire way throughout watching the show, the only thing I kept saying was, "He is SUCH a brat".  He does nothing but whine and complain and rant and rave if he doesn't get his own way, they show him treating his sister mean, talking back to his parents, crying and throwing temper tantrums over things...and the real crappy thing is that he usually ends up getting his own way after throwing the tantrum!! I don't even allow Vaughn to watch it anymore because after he watched a few episodes of it, he started talking in that whining voice that Caillou talks in....it's just disgusting!  I can't believe they would put a show on there that teaches kids to be brats!

I guess it isn't so much as tasteless as it is extremely corny!

agreed. just about every channel has some type of worthless reality show. which is why i watch tv land when i watch tv. as for a good script, if you've noticed, today's comedies seem a bit familiar..... you get that deja vu..... it's like oh yes i remember a similiar story on.....insert your favourite comedy show here.

you're missing out.  It's my daughter's favourite show!  That and "How Clean is Your House".  Now if only I could get her to watch Supernanny....

Lets see...tasteless TV shows:

1.) Survivor...never seen it and I don't care.

2.) The Swan.. Do these people really need plastic surgery..how about exercising, eating healthy, and wearing the right clothes? I have seen cases where people do no need plastic but some of these people just need to take care of themselves more. Isaw one of then plastic surgery shows the other day where the girl just did not take care of herself. She had plastic surgery and they updated her progress and she is taking care of herself after the plastic surgery.

3.) "American Idol" Why is this how any popular? I don't get it.

4.) The shows where the title of the show "Is Marry my Dad" or "Marry My Mom". I think there is "singles dance" where you live locally for people in their 30's, 40's and 50's where you can meet people.

5.) Fear Factor...This is gross where you see people eating bugs. Thats nasty I'm sorry.

"Saved By the Bell" was not really a "tasteless" show. It was fun and light and I am surprised it got as popular as it did for being an afternoon show. I loved it (sorry, lol)

I HATE THAT SHOW! Even worse, when I used to go to daycare (until 6th grade!) and because I was one of the OLDEST kids there, I had to stomach some of the kiddy shows that were on the Treehouse channel!


The only good show on PBS is the British TV show "Red Dwarf". It's on late at night and I only get to watch it when I get out of school for summer for 2 months!

Tasteless CURRENT TV Show?  I gotta go with Will & Grace.  If I were to take the show even remotely seriously, most gays are "flamers" whose conversation is full of double-entedres about an*l sex.  A gross disservice, in my opinion, to the gay community.

"Phil From The Future"... even tween shows are dumbed down

Shows like Fox's The Swan and ABC's Extreme Makeover push the wrong ideas about stuff like being 'buff', beauty, plastic surgery, and that BEAUTY AND A HOT BODY are 'the norm'....Shows like that are one of the reasons for all the predjudice against those who aren't 'perfect'!
