It sounds a bit like the movie Housesitter.
A friend of mine told me that her parents (who just recently moved to Florida) went to NY for visit friends/relitives. They saw their grandson and asked how his mother (their daughter) is doing. Their grandson said, "You should know better than I because she is living in your house." This was a surprise to them. They called their house and sure enough, their daughter answered the phone. She needed a place a stay so she broke in while they were away. Of course this woman has a long history of doing things that are not too kosher-she is basically a coke addict (which should explain it all).
