This is not right, but I would tend to withhold judgement of the other requests of the National
Board until all the facts were out. For a local board of a charity like to resign en masse is
extremely unusual, and coming at the same time as the requested resignation of the Chapter
head(volunteer or paid) leads me to think that there is more to this story than meets the eye.
The policy has been in place, and the refusal came, since 1996, so for them to all of the sudden
8 years later decide that the policy is intolerable, well, something isn't quite right. ???

I am a pro-gun-rights kind of guy. In fact, if I had my way, even machine guns would be legal. That is how I see the world.
That said, I support the MAW Foundation's choice to prohibit hunting trips or, for that matter, any event that involves guns and kids.
Such events expose the charity to ENORMOUS FINANCIAL RISK in the sad event that Junior blows his head off whilst handling a gun. I personally know one person who accidentally shot himself to death while hunting, and another man who accidentally shot a houseguest while handling guns.
The MAWF can not guarantee the proficiency of the kids or their escorts who handle the guns, and they also can not absolve themselves from liability if a lawsuit were filed covering a shooting during a MAW event.
If a kid got killed/maimed on an MAW event, I can GUARANTEE YOU that the MAW would be sued for millions. And they do not want to be spending their donations paying for a kid who blew his head off playing with a gun.
That said, if the Minnesota trustees feel so strongly about this, they themselves can fund a hunting trip for the kids, and take the risk themselves...
