Oh Thank You guys.I didn't even realize there was gonna be a thread about me.But anyway,today went pretty well.They had me doing a big book stack worth of In-Patient filing from A-Z in alphabetical order in a conference room and occasionally people would be walking in and out of the room but what I saw that was interesting was an oncologist(Medical Doctor) that was viewing blood cells thru a small microscope and answering phone calls at the same time.I would love to learn more of what and Oncologist does.So far,I know they're extremely busy viewing papers and answering calls or leaving messages for the patients who need/have appointments.Thanks Guys & Gals. :)

right now on my 2nd day I've been doing a whole big book of filing.Maybe by next week I'll be doing some shredding or photocopying.We'll see.  :)

I'm hoping I get to use the computer to type in the next few weeks.And I've talking with one of the oncologists today. :)

Congratz, Howard! I've been doing some volunteer work myself for the past couple months. At CSU Northridge, where I go to school, I've been helping out in the education building, entering data into a MS Access database, creating an organized directory.

So far,it's working out pretty well.I was doing a big book of in-patient filing for 3 hours till it was time for me to go to lunch at 12:30pm then I went home. :)

pretty busy I'd say today was.I got to talk to a few people,A couple came from Canada who probably were starters,An oncologist viewing lab results & doctors discussing pap smears. :P

other than that,work is going good. :)

Wow, 2nd week at my volunteer site was a busy bee so to speak.everybody is running around doing their own thing,talking,chatting eating,using their cell phones and other things.I got to talk to some guy who kinda looks new,very nice guy his name was Eric and He and his girlfriend came from Canada to New York to most likely start as an oncologist.other than that,pretty busy day today doing in-patient filing. :)

Yesterday it was non-stop filing from A-Z.I feel a little nervous because people are staring at me when I walk down the aisles. :( Maybe I should just give it some time for me to get used to. :)

Today before I went home to catch a bus,I was talking to a new co-worker named Danny who had a brain injury and how he got over his fear of meeting new people and introducing himself to others.He made me feel a little better. :)

Well,today seemed pretty busy along with the human zoo.people rush like mad animals in hospitals.Has anyone ever noticed that when they were/are working in one? ???

Today was an accomplishment.I had finished 4 filing books in less than 2 hours.I was gonna do one more but another doctor had the book with him so I went to lunch right after. :)

She lost her job at St.Francis Hospital  :(  but we'll see what happens in a couple of months.I wish her well. :)

100 Hours!  That's alot of charity!  :)  I think everyone should do their part, and giving time is better than giving money imo.  8)

It's a big accordian book which keeps all in-patient files in and those doctors in there can get pretty busy in one day running around. ;D
