Subject: Songs that describe you!

Written By: thebutcheress on 12/08/04 at 7:59 pm

I was thinking about songs that have touched parts of my life.

Here's the question what song\s have you heard that made you go wow, thats me!?

FOr me: Boulevard of Broken Dreams really got to me.

"I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone"

Another song was Redneck Woman by Gretchen Wilson. I like the underlying theme of being true to yourself and not caring how others view you!

When I'm Gone - by Phil Ochs always spoke of me.

There's no place in this world where I'll belong when I'm gone
And I won't know the right from the wrong when I'm gone
And you won't find me singin' on this song when I'm gone
So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here

And I won't feel the flowing of the time when I'm gone
All the pleasures of love will not be mine when I'm gone
My pen won't pour out a lyric line when I'm gone
So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here

And I won't breathe the bracing air when I'm gone
And I can't even worry 'bout my cares when I'm gone
Won't be asked to do my share when I'm gone
So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here

And I won't be running from the rain when I'm gone
And I can't even suffer from the pain when I'm gone
Can't say who's to praise and who's to blame when I'm gone
So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here

Won't see the golden of the sun when I'm gone
And the evenings and the mornings will be one when I'm gone
Can't be singing louder than the guns when I'm gone
So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here

All my days won't be dances of delight when I'm gone
And the sands will be shifting from my sight when I'm gone
Can't add my name into the fight while I'm gone
So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here

And I won't be laughing at the lies when I'm gone
And I can't question how or when or why when I'm gone
Can't live proud enough to die when I'm gone
So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here

Michael Jackson's Leave Me Alone....especially because of the way I'm treated by people because of my schizoaffective disorder....my program staff constantly pressure me to keep my home IMMACULATE(read: cannot look lived-in)..which I suspect is because I'm in Section 8 housing, and some 'watchdog' taxpayer bunch out there wants VALUE FOR MONEY..and then having to 'act as if' I don't have a hard time with my illness(MUST NOT CRY,COMPLAIN,OR SHOW WHAT THOSE FREUD WORSHIPPERS CONSIDER TO BE INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR-are they perfect I DOUBT IT!)! I am not a showpiece, and I will not become a 'model' for the public to gawk at!

'Pressure' by Billy Joel

You have to learn to pace yourself
(Pressure)
You're just like everybody else
(Pressure)

You've only had to run so far, so good
But you will come to a place where
The only thing you feel are loaded guns in your face
And you'll have to deal with the pressure

You used to call me paranoid
(Pressure)
But even you cannot avoid
(Pressure)

You turn the tap-dance into your crusade
Now here you are with your faith
And your Peter Pan advice
You have no scars on your face
And you cannot handle the pressure

All grown up and no place to go
Psych one, psych two
What do you know?
All your life is Channel 13
Sesame Street
What does it mean?

I'll tell you what it means
Pressure!

Don't ask for help, you're all alone
(Pressure)
You'll have to answer to your own
(Pressure)

I'm sure you have some cosmic rationale
Now here you are, in the ninth
Two men out and three men on.
Nowhere to look, but inside
Where we all respond to pressure

Pressure

All your life is Time Magazine
I read it too.
What does it mean?

PRESSURE!

I'm sure you have some cosmic rationale
But here you are with your faith
And your Peter Pan advice
You have no scars on your face
And you cannot handle pressure

The pressure
Pressure
1, 2, 3, 4 Pressure!!
