Subject: Things to ponder.

Written By: GWBush2004 on 12/09/04 at 2:52 pm

If a man is standing in the middle of the forest speaking and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?

If a deaf person swears, does his mother wash his hands with soap?

If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it considered a hostage situation?

Is there another word for synonym?

Isn't it a bit unnerving that doctors call what they do "practice?"

When sign makers go on strike, is anything written on their signs?

Where do forest rangers go to "get away from it all?"

Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?

What do you do when you see an endangered animal eating an endangered plant?

If a parsley farmer is sued, can they garnish his wages?

Would a fly without wings be called a walk?

Why do they lock gas station bathrooms? Are they afraid someone will clean them?

If a stealth bomber crashes in a forest, will it make a sound?

If a turtle doesn't have a shell, is he homeless or naked?

Why don't sheep shrink when it rains?

Can vegetarians eat animal crackers?

If the police arrest a mime, do they tell him he has the right to remain silent?

Why do they put Braille on the drive-through bank ATM's?

How do they get the deer to cross at that yellow road sign?

Why do they sterilize the needles for lethal injections?

Why did kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?

Why do men have nipples?

Why do we park in a driveway and drive on a parkway?

How much higher would the oceans be if it wasn't for all the sponges?

Tamarillo trees are sometimes called tomato trees, but they're not exactly the same fruit, just related.  Wal-mart sells something it calls tomato-tree seeds,  in a little red plastic eggs, each spring, you can usually find them on shipper strips displayed near the cash registers (I've never bought any, so I can't say what really grows from them,) and then there are Italian tomato trees, billed as being "like having a tomato factory in your back yard":

Why don't women's bathrooms have urinals?

Hey Howard, at the 2004 Glastonbury Festival (big UK music festival beloved of students & wannabe crusties) they installed female urinals, called She-Pees, that ladies could use standing up. Apparently they were quite popular (novelty value, I daresay!) but the organisers did encounter some problems, mostly related to "splashback" (work it out for yourself) & people taking photos in there with camera phones. Ah well, some urine, some you lose... ;D

Are you insulting women?

here's two things to ponder....

Why are men willing to pee in front of other men...most urinals are NOT in stalls like toilets are...and in places such as bushes where they can possibly get:
A nasty bite(snakebite or spiderbite) or a rash(poison ivy, oak,or sumac which would make men have to do the Al Bundy all the time...we know where Al puts his hand!)

Why do men leave the toilet seat up....a secret desire for their significant other to fall in?

Why do different regions of this country for sodas(pop,Coke,)and hoagies(subs,heros,grinders)..don't people realize that causes confusion for people who travel and don't know the local lingo?

Why do psychiatrists and therapists say that people are 'isolating' when they hear their cilents are on the Internet'a lot'....do they not KNOW that the Internet is INTERACTIVE,in other words, you communicate WITH OTHER PEOPLE when you send an Instant Message to someone or chat in a chatroom...with OTHER LIVING BEINGS?...

I guess coz the Net was not concocted by SIGMUND FREUD!?! Or they think the Net has no mental-health info?

Why do parents seem to quash ANY creativity in their children, just to make them FIT into the mold of 'good little future factory worker who will be content with just providing for a traditional family and accept they are little more to society than an EXPENDABLE NUMBER'?

<Shudder>... possibly 'cause that's what their parents did to them?

It is NOT a complaint about ALL parents...just some. Namely rich parents who want their kids to be GENTEEL and not 'make waves'.....because the parents are TERRIFIED of losing the place on the SOCIAL REGISTER..

Because too many parents compete with each other and use their children as pawns to stroke their egos. These are the same people who act like complete jackasses at their kids' sporting events.

I think it's that therapists cannot 'do their thing' and MODIFY PEOPLE'S BEHAVIOR online lmao!

Yes people, this mental health consumer DOES NOT spend every waking hour on AOL...I attend a social day program, one of the things I do on my Compaq Presario is make greeting cards for center staff and members as well as banners for special events! Nor do I spend all day sitting around...I DO walk and get around to shop and appointments ON MY OWN and use New Jersey Transit to do so...there are OTHER PEOPLE on buses!

Not exactly ISOLATING,am I LMAOROFL!

As for me,I attend a vocational program during the day and then come home and turn on my computer laptop after my shower.

How many people who feel uncomfortable around technology, such as computers and even silly things like microwaves had parents thatShooed them away from the TV and the stereo thinking 'Oh my God you can't touch it YOU'LL BREAK IT! what a way to plant fear of technology into a kid IMHO

Or said around the kids 'I hate computers they always screw up' or 'Computers take people's jobs over'...Don't parents KNOW that kids pick up on their attitudes?

If people are afraid of snakes, are snakes also afraid of people?

Do people who buy import cars give a d*mn about American autoworkers' jobs or families?

Will NASCAR on Fox's Darrell Waltrip ever get fired for his IMO asinine comments about 'dirty' drivers, seeing that's the pot(DW) calling the kettle(s) black?

What would the old(animated)NBC Peacock look like in Hi-Definition(he'd still look the same probably unless NBC did something awesome and updated him!)

Will Donald Trump ever get help for his silly fear of contamination? Will he ever get a clue and get rid of that ugly combover?

Will Rush Limbaugh be fired from Mutual Radio for his obnoxious big mouth, and be banned from  broadcast media for life by the FCC?

Is my '94 Mercury Grand Marquis, which was built in Canada, considered an import? Or am I better off buying a Toyota Camry built in Kentucky, or a Honda Accord built in Ohio?

It's kind of lucky in a way that Kennedy did his famous  "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech in Berlin rather than Hamburg, don't you think?  And definitely not Frankfurt :D

Hey Philbo, you've hit the nail on the head without knowing it-  the reason that speech was derided was because there is indeed a type of sausage called a Berliner! ;D

Also thanks for the correction on the Coca Cola bit, I should've put 'popularised' rather than invented.

Will certain people ever trust people with mental illness enough to not scrutinize them all the time...As a mental-health consumer I feel more pressure is put on those with certain disabilities to 'fit in' aka keep our housing IMMACULATE(Ohmigawd, the place is not PERFECTLY tidy, what will the neighbors think! the person MUST be decompensating!).ALWAYS dress nicely(Oh,look at that stuff they're wearing,it's not all that nice...Oh,she's wearing guys' stuff(like NFL or NASCAR t-shirts,hats,sweatsuits rather than GIRLY stuff)...or HAPPENNING to say something they feel and have their words deemed INAPPROPRIATE and their feelings 'under rug swept'!

Guess what...I am who I am,and I'll always be who I am...I don't have to please anyone as long as I don't hurt anyone or break any laws!!

Tee hee... "I am a sausage" - has a certain added piquancy now his philandering habits have come out ;)

Also thanks for the correction on the Coca Cola bit, I should've put 'popularised' rather than invented.

I only found that out recently (while researching for my "Have yourself a pagan sort of Christmas" parody), as I was trying to find out whether Father Christmas/Santa Claus was a Christian tradition, or simply another pagan one co-opted for Christmas... no prizes for guessing the answer to that one - but what did surprise me is that Father Christmas and Santa Clause have *different* roots: Father Christmas is derived from a pagan chap (aka "The Green Man" - that's where the elves and reindeer come from), who'd give out presents on the Winter Solstice; and Santa Claus is the Saint Nicholas chap who'd give presents to local deprived children.  They've kind of got rolled into one, now.

My dad's funny that way. When I was a kid (and when cars were still simple to work on--before they went all electronic), my dad almost never took his cars to mechanics--he almost always worked on them himself. He's very skilled mechanically (he grew up on a farm) and has also done extensive remodeling work on his house. Yet I gave my parents my old computer and my dad doesn't have a clue as to how to run it...he doesn't even bother with it.  Why is that???

Why were censors on radio and television SO prudish on what could be heard and shown on radio and television? So as not to offend THE WHITE PROTESTANT& ROMAN CATHOLIC ESTABLISHMENT,i presume!

any thoughts on this, especially from those who grew up back then?

Speaking as a Roman Catholic, good question. I often think that censors are a bit up tight and have too much time on their hands.

Is PBS 'dumbing down' their kids' shows by doing stuff like 'Teletubbies'? Does PBS not feel that young children and toddlers have ANY kind of intelligence besides 'time for tubby bye-bye'? Oh yeah,PBS knows that parents just HAVE to use TV as a substitute for QUALITY TIME with the 'little ones'?

Why do parents raise their child'the way I was raised'.....even if their parents were physically/verbally abusive!?!

Do those parents that talk nasty and mean to their kids in the name of 'discipline' EVER say anything nice when their kid is being good,or are they the type that go by that old-fashioned saying' praise spoils a child'?Do they EVER use these 3 words

I love you?

I asked a caseworker why the Internet is considered by them as 'isolating'...she said that the person is PHYSICALLY alone...I guess they cannot MOLD people like some lump of 'human clay' via AOL....

I suspect anything non-Freudian or non-group therapy is not acceptable in their opinion...
