This is quite an interesting read in todays Sydney Morning Herald - about the origin, history and change in music video clips. Some cute pics as well.

Interesting...Though I prefer the golden & silver age of music videos: '80's & '90's 8)
Though music videos were around since the 1940's (then called "soundies"), but wasn't as popular until the '80's.

As the article explains - Australian programs like Countdown were playing video clips all thru the 70's - really cool inventive ones - long before the US came up with MTV (we use to think you guys were so far behind us !!). I loved the clips back then. The 80's really just brought new technology into them with stuff like the A-ha clip etc.
I have to agree with the article - the hip hop clip is basically old hat - identical for each new and old artist - very ho hum !!!
