Subject: Decade half over. Any resolutions?

Written By: ChuckyG on 12/30/04 at 2:44 pm

I resolve to redesign inthe80s completely and totally.  Ability for editors to remove/edit entries, ability to add more pictures, cleaner look and design (and smaller download times for pages).  I just redesigned a site for a friend, using all the latest xhtml and css specs, and not only does it look great, but it's less complicated and easier to work on.  I have one more site to finish before I can do it though >bummer<

I also plan to lose weight, but that usually never ends up happening >grin<

Thread set to sticky until the 1st!

I resolve to clean up all the clutter in my bedroom, study to get my license (I'm out of high school and I STILL don't have the thing) and get a job.

That sounds great. Have you taken swimming up seriously or is it a hobby?

-To use curse words less.
-Get a girlfriend(everybody teases me about that because I don't have one.)
-Join a Group or a Class of some sorts.
-Get an idea of what I want to do with the rest of my life in terms of a career.

Mine:

-To use curse words more. Dammit.
-Lie about girlfriend I don't have.
-Avoid a group or class of any sort.
-Smoke more weed.

;D

For real?

-Stop holding sheesh back.
-Avoid overeating when I get bored or upset.
-Try to help my friends more.
-stop pi$$ing off the AmIRight people.  ;D

I used to do triathlons regularly, but stopped swimming due to a shoulder injury.  My shoulder's healed now, and I really miss swimming.  I was in the masters swim group for 5 or 6 years locally, so will probably join them again.

Are you a swimmer?

It's great that your shoulder is feeling better.  :)

Goals Number1 and 3 on my list should be easy to do. Goals Number 2 and 4 are really hard but I guess its all part of growing up.

It certainly is a part of growing, tv. I don't know what to do about your goal 4 being in that situation myself (I'm trying to work out what I want more, to feel comfortably secure or to feel that I have done something noteworthy in my life). I know a lot of people older than me that don't have girlfriend's or a high-flying career but they seem content - and contentment is the key. I'm sure you will find it if you haven't already.  ;)

Your absolutly right, contentment is the key.  I am on day number 2 of not smoking.  Its amazing how addicting they are and not even realized it.  I feel pretty confident right now, already can breath deeper!  Last year I quit for a month and it was truly amazing how much better I felt.  Now I just need to stay away from alcohol for a month or two....Oh well, someone please pass me the doobie!:)

Great job! Smoking cigarettes is a horrible thing to do to your body...I am behing you 100% on your decision to quit and wish you best of luck ;) As for the alcohol, I have been sober for a couple months now and, like you with the non-smoking, I feel better every day :)

Note: modified for yet another typo ::) :D

Well, I've managed to make some headway already on the getting organized thing...now let's keep our fingers crossed that I can stay with it ;)  Oh, and I started my Zyban today :)

All great stuff, 80s cheerleader. What is Zyban?

I have done really well with resolving not to make any resolutions . . . I think I'm going to be able to keep it (doh!)

Zyban - a new treatment for nicotine addiction

Zyban is a drug marketed by Glaxo-Wellcome and has been used, very successfully, to treat nicotine addiction directly. In this case it is different to the way other anti-smoking agents work, such as nicotine gum and patches, since these simply supply an alternative source of nicotine other than cigarettes. Zyban works at the neurological level, reducing the craving for nicotine in any form. At the moment it is licensed in the US, but not yet in the UK. It is potentially extremely important, as this discovery could open the door to finding similar molecules for treating much more serious addiction problems, such as cocaine and heroin, etc.

Hope it helps.

Very good, Howard. If your friend is half the problem you say he is then maybe it is for the best that you go your own way in a civil manner.  :)

What's a Zaddik?

Howard

It's a Hebrew word and I'm not sure it can exactly be traslated, but to me it's similar to the type of person who would win the medal of honor.  Hard to attain but worth a try!  Zaddik pronounced, tszah-deek.
