Subject: Sponge Bob Square Pants Gay supporter?

Written By: neebs25 on 01/21/05 at 11:55 am

Hey everyone, not sure if anyone else has heard of this,  strong religious groups are saying a video with Sponge Bob and other children characters gives the message for children to accept homosexuals.  It annoys me to no end these people who try to find faults with just about everything.  Even if Sponge Bob did promote tolerance for gays, whats the big deal?  Would the good people of the church rather their children HATE people who are gay?  That dosnt sound very christian to me.  I wish people could except the times and people for what and who they are, and find something else to do than bitch about stupid stuff like this. >:(

A man who was on production of the video said the message was more for tolerance for all people in general.  Im sure it wont get to the point of cancelling SB or anything, but for goodness sake, when will people get their heads out of their behinds and find something productive to do! :D

Well you remember, 1998\1999 there was a man, who was convinced that the teletubbies (especially tinky-winky) promoted homosexual views? (He carried a purse, sometimes) I mean give me a break. Here's this 50+ years old man, commenting on a show made for 3 year olds.

This is the same way. WHO CARES? WE spend so much time and energy trying to make it known that we aren't being stepped on and that our views are represented, that we begin to not care about the common good, or those around us. Its liek the thing with the pledge. My view is this and your not allowed to express your views because I don't like it. F*** YOU! THats what I tell people.

I was at a dinner at the HIlton last week,a nd the table I was sitting at was all up GEorge BUsh's A$$. THey're happy homosexuals , whoops let me use their term fags and queers can't get married and that states are outlawing marriage. THis issue really pisses me off.

Who cares if a CHILDRENS SHOW, tells kids that you shouldn't fear or hate people who are different than you? This lets me knwo that prejudiced is something that is taught and that no one is born with this kind of hatred.

I agree.  Hate is taught, by these so-called do--gooders.  They all suck if you ask me.  By the way, that guy you were refering to about the telle-tubbies is Jerry Farwell or something like that.  If you've ever seen the movie  "Larry Flint"  about the founder of "Hustler"(or was it "Penthouse"?) magazine, those two did battle in the supreme court.  Jerry tried to get all porn mags pulled.  Guess that didnt work out too well for him ;)

THis makes me SO mad. Yeah, I read the whole article, and saw the name in there.

I think they are teaching their kids the 11th commandment: HAte queers and fags for the lord commandeth so.

I'm going to stop before I offend someone.

Spongebob Squarepants gay? C'mon. ::) It's like saying Ernie and Bert from Sesame Street are homosexual cause Ernie sometimes wants to sleep in Bert's bed and he allows it. ::)

Sometimes I wonder what floats these right-wing wackos' boats. I mean, seriously. Are these guys paranoid homophobes or what? Someone once brought up the topic of whether or not Bert and Ernie were actually a gay couple. I told them, "Bert and Ernie can't possibly be gay.  Muppets don't have d*cks!  End of discussion."    ;D ;D ;D

Just because someone or something is gay-friendly doesn't mean they're GAY themselves.  Gay is when you're born with a sexual attraction to people of your same gender(but only have sex with people who feel the same way).  Gay-friendly is when you're gay, bi or straight(or anything else), and support the cause.  "His creator, Stephen Hillenburg, said though SpongeBob was an oddball, he thought of all the characters in the show as asexual."  There you have it.

Other gay faves include The Simpsons(though their last seasons are putrid), Stitch, Buffy and Family Guy.  That doesn't make them all gay at once.

Sorry, but this just bothers me to no end.  Just leave them alone.  None of them are hurting you; if you hate them, you're only hurting yourselves.

How do you know?

Now, I don't know about SBSP, but there is a Christian hub-bub about the new animated feature Shark Tale.
Ganked from the movie review section of a site called ChristianAnswers.net:
Audiences may interpret some sequences as promoting tolerance of gay lifestyles. Throughout the movie, we are told how the father should accept his "different" shark son Lenny, even though he embarrasses the family. The film goes to great lengths to say that the father should not be concerned about his son no matter how he "dresses," how he acts, or what his mannerisms are (which are almost identical to those of the characters on 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy'). This appears to be an attempt to affect childrens' views of how to react to homosexual lifestyles. Parents should be aware of this gesture and lovingly explain God’s view and how we must all love the person, but help and pray for them to know God’s truth and will in their lives.
Links not present here, but on the site note that the phrase "gay lifestyles" is hyperlinked to their page called "What's Wrong with Being Gay: Homosexual behavior versus the Bible," and the phrase "explain God's views" is linked to another called "What About Gays Needs To Change: It may not be what you think!"
I also heard that Lenny the Shark does not come out to his father as "gay," but he does come out to his father as "vegetarian."  If he's a vegetarian, he must be a f*g!  Nice to hear from Archie Bunker again.  I don't know if Hollywood (or Disney) has a covert pro-gay agenda, but it's obvious Christian fundamentalists have an overt anti-gay agenda as they drag the issue into everything the possibly can!

Muppets were never supposed to have private parts. What would the children think about a naked Ernie or Bert? A long time ago Al,remember when Ernie always took showers or baths and the camera only shown his orange body but not below it? ;D

None of us have ever thought about Spongebob being gay (I assume none of us have anyway--I sure haven't).  So why would the six-year olds who watch the show think that?

It is a freaking annoying show, though.

Sponge Bob supports gays?  Never knew that.

Does he also support lesbians, or does he draw the line at gays?  How about transgendered ir cross-dressers?

I must be a bad mommy too, since my daughter is watching it also.  Well, I'm not too concerned about her, now I can't allow my son to watch it, don't want Spongebob turning him gay!!  ;)

I never once thought Spongebob was gay, Squidward is a different story.  I mean he plays the clarinet, paints and does interpretive dance.  And Sandy, please, if she's not a lesbian!  ;)

IT'S A CARTOON!!!!

I seriously doubt my 4 year old even knows what gay is and if she grows up and tells me she's a lesbian, I know it's not because she watched Teletubbies, Sesame Street or Spongebob.

If you support one monority, you gotta support them all.

After all, you never know who'll be watching your show.  Take Ted Nugent.  I actually used to like his song High Enough when I was 11, but he said hurtful things about diffferent people, so now I hate him and it ruined the song... and when have we ever heard from him again anyway?

Here's the actual info for everyone off of IMDB....

A children's video starring SpongeBob SquarePants, Barney and a host of other cartoon favorites has been slapped with a gay alert warning by Christian Conservative groups. The music video, due to be sent to 61,000 schools across America in March, was made by the nonprofit We Are Family Foundation to encourage tolerance and diversity. But Christian activist groups the American Family Association and Focus On The Family say the innocent cartoon characters are being exploited to promote the acceptance of homosexuality.

The video is a remake of the 1979 hit song "We Are Family," featuring SpongeBob, Barney, Winnie The Pooh, Bob The Builder, the Rugrats and 100 TV cartoon stars. It was made by a foundation set up by songwriter Nile Rodgers to promote America's healing process after the September 11 attacks.

Christian groups, however, have taken exception to the tolerance pledge on the foundation's website, which asks people to respect the sexual identity of others along with their abilities, beliefs, culture and race. Rodgers hits back, "That is so myopic and harsh. You have really got to look hard to find anything in this that is offensive to anyone. The last thing I am going to do is taint these characters."

It's only a video!!!! Sheeesh....    ::)

Get a grip, people. It's a cartoon!
