Subject: Best Year of the Early 2000s (2000-2004, you can include 1999 too if you want)

I'd say 2003 followed closely by 2002.  The 1999 thing was wearing off by then and you weren't assaulted by Commercial Rap as much as you are now. Also some cool shows started in 2002 and 2003 like Andy Richter Controls the Universe and Chappelle's Show.  Also Lord of the Rings mania hit its peak and the Matrix sequels came out (talk crap if you want, I think they were deserving, if not as good, as the first one  8) ).

Why does every love LOTR so much? It wasn't that great.

The greatest thing about 2000-2004? Andy Richter and Chappelle's Show, I guess.

The movies didn't give justice to the books, but it got people into them.  The books rule though.

Early 2000s is more 2000-2003, 2004 is really the mid 2000s. I'd say 2000, the economy was still good, Clinton was still president, the '90s were still hanging on. Then in 2001 everything went down the toilet. 2002 wasn't really a bad year either. 1999 was also an excellent year, though it is technically part of the '90s but you said you can include it. I think 1999 was one of the best '90s years, because it really was the peak of the '90s, the tech boom was at it's peak, gas was extremely cheap, I remember seeing $.78 a gallon at one point here, waiting for the new millennium was also very fun.

I really liked 1999 too actually.  I just hate the 2000s update of 1999.  Hell even Britney Spears was fun in 1999.  But I don't consider it real 90s the way I consider '93 or '96 real 90s.

like I said the late '90s were good in a political and economic sense, but not in a pop culture aspect,

Yeah I'd have to agree ... I guess I got into the 2000s mindset when I was ten in Sept-Oct. 2000 and there was the whole Bush election thing and I heard how anti-environment he was. Then the recounts. I was Anti-Bush even before the war.  Infact Bush gives me doubts about the war, not the other way around.

Late 90s and very early 90s pop culture is campy and embarassing though.  In 95-96 there was kinda a musical void (Maracena? wtf?) but I loved the feel on then.  Not grungy but not yet South Parkish.

I have to go with 2000 also but mostly for personal reasons-

1. New Years EVE was the BEST!!!!
2. I turned 21...FINALLY
3. My Brother still had his best friend and had no signs of the condition that he has now, Epileptic seizures.
His conditon reared its' ugly head when the WTC collapsed and his best friend died on one of the top floors. The stress triiggered a series of seizures, he passed out repeatedly. (His Highschool, unfortunately had front row seats).

ON A LIGHTER NOTE

4. I made a ton of mooola by working as a crew leader for the Census2000 $20/HR from uncle sam...nice.

When I think of the early '90s, I think of the baggy clothes, bright colors, fanny packs, and trolls, little dolls that had big bright hair, I will never forget those things they just stick in my mind, I saw so many of them when I was a little kid. I think I had a lime green and black fanny pack and this lime green and black jacket. Stripes were in somewhere around there as well. I remember wear plaid flannel shirts as well. I always liked Clinton as a little kid. I remember when he got elected in 1992, and was rooting for him in 1996. By 2000, I was 13 and starting to actually understand politics a bit, I had that gut feeling Bush was going to end up winning, and he did, though it took over a month to be final. I was anti-Bush in 2000. I knew that Clinton had accomplished the surplus, the country was at peace, and the economy was good, and Gore was his Vice President, so I wanted him to continue what Clinton had accomplished. Now I can say that since I was 13, I understand the world a lot better, the govenrment, and life. I read the news everyday online, and I keep up with what's going on always. I can't stand when kids my age don't know what's going on, they should. 9/11 was such a bad day, I'll never forget when I first heard at 8:53 am, then hearing the pentagon had been hit, and the white house could be next. It was really scary, our nation was under attack.
