Subject: Frank Miller's Sin City

Written By: ElDuderino on 03/11/05 at 9:34 pm

Anyone seen the previews for this? My god, it looks so amazing. The black and white with the bleach bypass process and having certain things colorized gives this film an incredible look. Its like a living, breathing graphic novel. Its based on what is considered to be one of the best graphic novels ever written(by the famous Frank Miller), and it is co-directed by the man who actually wrote it(Miller) and a great director, Robert Rodriguez(From Dusk Til Dawn, Once Upon A Time In Mexico).

The cast is incredible too. Bruce Willis, Clive Owen, Jessica Alba, Rutger Hauer, Josh Hartnet, Michael Madsen, Michael Clarke Duncan, Brittany Murphy, Benecio Del Torro, Elijah Wood, Rosario Dawson, Carla Gugino, Nick Stahl, Mickey Rourke, Jaime King, and Marley Shelton. That has got to be the greatest cast I have seen assembled for one film since Pulp Fiction. And speaking of, Quentin Tarantino aslo directs one scene in the movie(making him sort of a "cameo director").

Plot Outline: "Sin City" is infested with criminals, crooked cops and sexy dames, some searching for vengeance, some for redemption and others, both. The film incorporates storylines from three of Miller's graphic novels including 'Sin City,' which launched the long-running, critically acclaimed series, as well as 'That Yellow Bastard' and 'The Big Fat Kill.' Where Hartigan, a cop with a bum ticker and a vow to protect stripper Nancy (Jessica Alba).. Mickey Rourke as Marv, the outcast misanthrope on a mission to avenge the death of his one true love, Goldie (Jaime King), and Clive Owen as Dwight, the clandestine love of Shelley (Brittany Murphy), who spends his nights defending Gail (Rosario Dawson) and her Old Towne girls (Devon Aoki and Alexis Bledel) from Jackie Boy (Benicio Del Toro), a dirty cop with a penchant for violence.

dont forget that the movie opens with one of Frank Miller's short stories, that I beleive is called "The customer is always right".

SIn City is amazing...anyone who hasnt actually read any of the comic books/graphic novels should.  The movie is going to be amazing.  YOu pretty much sumed up what I was gonna say already.

Rodriguez plans on filming all of Frank Miller's Sin City stories at some point, so look out for a sequel....which will have Johnny Depp in it (his story...which I think was "A Dame to kill for", but im not sure, was cut from this movie and will be in the second)....

also, fun fact: Leonardo Dicaprio was signed to play Nick Stahls caracter of Yellow Bastard but backed out last minute, and Michael Douglas was offered a role but turned it down.

Oh and Bruce Willis took the role without even seeing a script.

I hear Steve Bushemi makes a cameo, but I cant find what character he's playing...I'll be keeping my eyes open.
