Jackson's 'Peter Pan' Image Slipping Away

By TIM MOLLOY
Associated Press Writer
SANTA MARIA, Calif. (AP) -- It turns out Peter Pan grew up after all. Saying he never had a true childhood, Michael Jackson made his home into a children's fantasy, called it Neverland and once insisted to an interviewer "I am Peter Pan," referring to the boy who refused to grow up.

But the image Jackson has worked so hard to preserve slips away during his criminal trial with each new reference to drinking and each new display of his many adult magazines.

"He's a 46-year-old guy with a bad back who likes to watch porn and drink wine. Who would've thought?" said J. Randy Taraborrelli, a CBS News analyst and author of "Michael Jackson: The Magic and the Madness."

Good observation by that author.  ;D ;D

I used to think Marilyn Manson was music's biggest FREAK SHOW idiot....Michael Jackson has beat Manson, aka Brian Warner out, bigtime.

I hope they roll out the white coat welcome mat for Jacko at Napa(California hospital for the criminally insane)...but I think a stay at San Quentin would teach him a lesson he'd never forget....

This should be posted in the Michael Jackson - Guilty or not thread. But I'm going to respond to it none the less.

That is the biggest misrepresentation of Michael Jackson I have ever seen.
Michael may have a large amount of porn magazines, but compared to the amount of books he has, it's nothing. During the Neverland raid, police found that Michael has over 20, 000 books. Some are poetry, some are classic novels, some are biographies of great people like Nelson Mandela, Muhamid Ali, Sammy Davis Jr, Fred Astaire, Shirley Temple, Elizabeth Taylor etc. Overall it was over 20, 000 books. None of those seemed to be pornographic or explicit. There were some romance novels, but nothing that can be called pornographic or explicit. Michael has always said he was a love for great literacy, and if 20, 000 books doesn't prove it, then what will?
Every man is allowed to drink, I don't see how that is a bad thing. Oh I gte it, if Michael Jackson does it it's a bad thing. Caring for children and donating millions to help dying children the world over and bringing sick and unfortunate children into Neverland for a day to enjoy the rides should be veiwed as a great and humanitary thing. But because Michael Jackson does it, it's sick and perveted.

Get real....just become someone is LITERATE...it does NOT make them INNOCENT....Jacko is a nutcase, period! If you have any doubt, remember the 'baby hanging out the window' incident...or how he forces his other children to wear masks when they are in public!

To think Peter Pan once aspired to a "Michael Jackson" image.  Reached through his agents, when asked if he'd comment on MJ, the P-man retorted, "I don't wanna throw up!"

I'll have you know that the inspiration for Nelson Medela to become the first black leader of south Africa was Michael Jackson. Mr. Mendela has stated many times that he draws his strength from Michael Jackson because Michael Jackson is a strong person. he had the balls to step into a industry controlled by white media and make it his own. He revolutionised music itself and then went on to own half of what is considered the most valuable music catalogues in the world, ATV Catalogue. Michael Jackson is by far one of the most successful and most powerful people in the music industry and has been for a number of years.
Muhamid Ali is another great person who draws his strength from the recently renowned "Emperor Of Entertainment" 8)

I'll remember to tell Berry Gordie that founding Motown records with a small loan on his own didn't take any strength.  Having a succesful producer by your side while you hide from paparazzi, that's what really advances the record industry.  Or maybe the thousands of black performers who couldn't even dine at the establishments they played for during the seggregation years of the south?

You can invent whatever myths about MJ you want, but don't expect people to believe it.

The State is trying to p[rove he did these things..the defendants just have to make the jurors believe he didn't....
When someone who was already paid off SHOWS UP to testify..what??They don't think they got enough money from him so they will now ruin his life..Doesn't sound right....
So now if the jury had any sense that this is taking place, they shouldn't have trouble deciding something is wrong with Michaels' picture..

howard: (in answer to who was polled..I believe all jurors were asked what they thought of him and his music or if they knew of it, that's why it may be swayed in his favor..we'll see where they go with it.. :-\\

Not to mention that there's not just 1, not just 2, no, there are MULTIPLE people who have said they were either molested by Jacko or witnessed the "inappropriate behavior".  1 or 2 people lying, maybe, but a dozen or more ???  HIGHLY unlikely ::)

Geez, I know this Robbo's a Jackson obsessive, but he's now quoting satirical articles as fact! What he speaks about above was a parody of MJ & Jesse Jackson's recent conversation, where MJ tried to equate his 'struggle' with that of Nelson Mandela's. I don't recall Nelson ever struggling to cover up kid-fiddling...as for a struggle to break into a world controlled by white media, the music industry were crying out for acts such as The Jackson Five when they first came out, so I don't really know quite how he 'struggled' there either..

I don't think it's appropriate for MJ to play the race card. He has spent many years trying to be white-skinned (for whatever gain, we don't know), so to now pussy on about how he is mistreated because he's black is c**p. The opposite is true- he's treated specially, because he's a rich nutcase with a gender/race issues. Even if he is cleared, the many pathetic straws he is clutching at now will be remembered, I can see him ending up as being one of the most despised people on the planet. His only 'struggle' is to try to convince others he's not a dangerous sexual predator; his actions & speeches in the past have already convinced most of us that he is indeed a danger to children's innocence, even if the court finds otherwise.

Hey, sorry Crazymom, haven't been here for a while due to 'net usage clampdown at work, and haven't bothered to read a lot of the MJ threads in full, due to them being of a fairly similar nature (i.e. the world saying "WTF?" and a few Jacko obsessives defending him to the hilt). I just think that so many people have repeated the same allegation, and Jacko's using such desperation to make him/herself seem (pardon the pun/ expression) "whiter than white", that the "mud will stick" & his fan base of loyal children will rapidly disappear as parents no longer wish to pay for music peddled by someone who has had repeated allegations of child abuse levelled at him. They say "there's no smoke without fire"- if I saw one puff of smoke, I'd think there was something smouldering, but that it might not have developed into a real fire. If I saw loads of smoke, I'd think the fire was lit & burning well, regardless of his mealy-mouthed lawyers...

Have your fun now. Make your jokes now. Because he who laughs last, laughs best! Michael Jackson and those who have supported him (his fans, most Hollywood celebrities, a silent majority of the public) will have the last laugh. It's gonna be hell funny when Tom Sneddon crashes and burns and the case just blows up in his face. But when you people learn that Michael is innocent, you wont be allowed to crawl back to him. Sure, if you wont you can buy his new records and watch his new films, but you can't come back. Michael will never accept you people. From now on it's Michael Jackson, his fans, his friends and his family. The extended Jackson family.
You can turn over now and actually wkae up to the reality that Michael isn't the freak people say he is, or you can keep believing what tabloids say. But in the end, just remember, don't come crawling back!

Well if he's found innocent, that means he is innocent beyond reasonable doubt, so that rules out sick and perverted. Greedy? If you're referring to his ownership of the Beatles catalogue, are you aware of the extremes Sony have gone to, to get full ownership of Michael's ATV catalogue? Mean? Are you referring to the hospital incident? The hospital took full responsibility for it. Before that old woman came in, there was another elderly person, dying in that room and she was moved to a smaller room and died. So you could argue that the old woman that died as a result of the hospital giving Michael the bigger room, was also greedy and mean for taking the big room whcih resulted in a previous old woman dying. It's only fair.

You got that right, Mark. :)

Oh, and if he is found not guilty I can't go crawling to him?  He won't accept me?  Oh well.  His opinion doesn't rule my life...I could care less what he thinks.  You make him sound like a god, Robbo.  Keep putting him on that pedastal and he will come crashing down.  It is starting already, I don't think he will make it out of this unscathed like you seem to think.  Even if he is found not guilty his career will still be affected by this.  The allegations will always be hanging over his head and people won't want to have much to do with him.  Face it, MJ is on a downhill slide and it won't stop until he hits rock bottom.

Face it. Face this, face that. That's all I seem to be hearing. Guess what Michael Jackson and his fans don't give a damn what you think!! Tabloids are fudgeed up!!! They saw he bombed on his last album, but it sold more than most albums sells these days!!!
You people always say the same thing. Michael's gonna crash and burn, his fans are proclaiming him as a God. It's not true. I was just saying that you can't come crawling back to Michael if you haven't supported him all this time. I was just making a statement. fudge off!!!

Pretty nasty response for someone who doesn't care what I think.

Your entitled to worship him as your God...and I'm entitled to think of him as he is...a weirdo who molested children and dangled his own child over a blacony  :D  You enjoy worshipping your "Man"...it's your right ;)

you wont be allowed to crawl back to him.
Why would we want to?  And, how will he be able to tell "us people" from "you people"?  Because we're not dressed JUST Like him?  All you have to do is LOOK & LISTEN to him to see what a freak he is.  I don't read the tabloids, nor do I care what they say.  I'm a big girl, I can form my OWN opinions, thankyouverymuch.
