Subject: Fads/Fashions of the 2000's

Written By: Kyle on 04/10/05 at 3:04 pm

Here are some of the fads that mostly started out and maintained theirselves in the 2000's.  Some may start out in the '90s.  8)  You can include 1999, as always too with the 2000s because their so alike.

Fashion

Trucker Hats (2002-early 2004)
Hoop earrings (2002-2003)
The Bun look (<1999-2004)
Low Cut Jeans (2000-2003)
Bare Midriffs (all of 2000s)
Tube Tops (2004)
Braids (1999 and 2005)
Hat Sideways (2003+)
Hat Backwards (<1999-2001,2004-2005)
Pink and Black on Preps (2005)
The Gothic Look (2004-2005)

That's all I got.

More fashion is welcomed, man!

Those white hippie skirts- I don't know what you would call them, but you know what I mean.

Flip flops, definitly a huge thing down here in Florida, and I don't think it's just because of the weather?

Yeah a lot of girls wear those long, frilly white skirts. I've seen them a lot anyway. It is one of the few current fashions I like. I think its rather cute on the right girl..

I would have to disagree with some of your fashion trends.  Some of these date back futher, at least from where I went to school....I'll explain:

Braids and cornrows (1993)(2000s)

Hats sideways & backwards (1990s) (2000s)

Gothic look (1995) (2000s)

Afros (1990s) (2000s)

A retarded Band-Aid on the left side(or right) of face (soooo 2002)

I love regurgitation of trends.......yum :P

Guys wearing pink, you'd get made fun of if your were a guy and wore pink in the '90s, for some reason pink is "cool" now with the prep crowd. Baggy clothes are still popular, they've been for a good decade or so. Preppy aeropostale, pac sun, american eagle, abercromie clothing has it's fans. Gothic look has it's fans as it has had for years. You have your ghetto "pimps" as well (south pole, ecko, etc.), that wear huge g-unit shirts and have big chains hanging down from their necks. The punk/skater look is another popular fashion, they'll wear shirts with their favorite punk/rock group on it. Usually have a spiked thing on their wrists or something as well, makes em look tough, lol. Where do I fit in, probably the prep category, but I don't wear the stereotypical brands I mentioned, I wear the cheap stuff, lol. Now in 2000, if you would have asked me what south pole was, I would have absolutely no idea that it was a clothing line. The ghetto/urban look was not nearly as big in 2000 as 2005. I'm sure it was popular in the urban schools, but now it is everywhere. In 2000, *nsync and backstreet boys were cool with teens. Though a few rappers were big in 2000, Nelly and Eminem come to mind, both are big today as well. Now it's a lot of hip-hop and punk-rock, it's been that way since about 2002. A lot of things have changed since 2000, I think this decade has really evolved, not necessarily for the better however. This is my (long) summary of '00s fashion/style/music so far. I've been a teen through this entire decade, so I think know it pretty well.

Guys wearing pink!  That is as weird and sick as calling a guy Angel, Emily, or Carly.  When will we humans start acting the way God intended us to be.

I know it's weird, you won't see me in pink, lol. But some guys think it's cool for some reason.

Not me either!

Bright colored clothing! (Pants, Tee-shirts, shoes, etc)
I was at a job interview one time @ Anchor Blue in the fall of 2003, and I was told by the store manager that the baggy, baggy, pants were going out of style.
"Slim fit" tees
Retro-shoes ('70's & '80's)
Retro-tees ('70's & '80's)
Basically tight clothes are back, like they had in the 80's
