I wouldn't say she's the best "singer," but she was definitely one of the funnest....at least at first.  But her vocals aren't all that strong and then she was getting kinda boring.  As far as the best female "singer"  (since there's only two left...) its a tough call but I'd probably have to say Vonzell. 
I'm a big Anwar fan too- I just hope he keeps up with more exciting performances before he gets kicked off too.  BTW, why the *BLANKETY-BLEEP* is ANTHONY still on there?  As if his version of "Climb Every Mountain" wasn't bad enough, we had to listen to him murder "Every Time You Go Away."  And now we'll have to hear even more.  I sure hope he's the next one to go....and then Scott's next!!!

I like Bo and Vonzel. Carrie has a beautiful voice but she seems like a singing ghost. sounds wonderful but I just don't see anything there.

I am SO ticked off!!!!!!!    Not that I was a big Constantine fan- I only think he had the looks.  I'm more upset that Scott was in the top 3......OVER VONZELL?!!!!!!!    Oh my God, when they sang "Emotions" last night, Scott and Anthony were HORRID!!!

I dropped my bag of cheetos when I saw last night's result. I'm no conspiracy theorist, but something HAD to go wrong! Scott, SCOTT over Vonzell?!!!! I don't like constantine that much but I don't think he shouldn't have been voted off, not yet.

Monday night's performances were not that great, but I was offended when Scott attempted to do Luther Vandross. Vonzell did great even though she sung a song that I can't stand. Constantine unfortunately wasn't that great but he still deserves to be in the competition.

While I am not a fan of Constantine, I wish Scott had gone instead.  I believe that the only reason Scott made it though was the sympathy vote because Simon told him to pack his bags.  That boy needs to go and fast.

He had a drug charge a couple of years ago, but he complied with the courts and was cleared.  He doesn't do drugs anymore.

So Idol last night was about classic rock & roll and current billboard hits.  Once again Anthony was HORRID!  So was Scott and I'm sick to death of his psychotic "I'm cool-take that!" attitude.  I hope he goes home next.  Simon was bashing Vonzell last night but I think he was REALLY sending sublimal messages for people to vote for her.  What do yall think?

I think he was a bit psychotic, if you ask me.  And I knew the couch was the bottom two as well.  As soon as he had Anthony sit down and Vonzell stand up, I knew what they were doing.  Scott was doing his whole "thank you thank you" bit on the way to the couch and I was like huh-uh he better be going HOME!

To Jessica:  Yes, Anthony SHOULD have been gone long long ago.  But starting from the top 5, it's good that Scott went first, because although he wasn't that great, he was better than Anthony.  Now that Anthony has to be compared to Bo, Carrie, and Vonzell, he should be SURE to go next.   Thats my philosophy anyway

I'll recap the show 4 anyone else who missed it:

The themes were Nashville (country)  and Philadelphia (songwriters Gamble & Huff)
Carrie sang "Sin Wagon" (not my favorite song but she did great) and "If You Don't Know Me By Now"  (horrible)
Bo sang "Great Day to Be Alive" (extremely boring 4 Bo) and "For the Love of Money" (awesome!!!)
Vonzell sang "How Do I Live?" (apparently having a bad day, she choked up and didn't perform so good) and "Don't Leave Me This Way" (pretty good, but not amazing)
Anthony sang "I'm Already There" (hate the song anyway, can't stand his voice) and "If You Don't Know Me By Now" (Carrie's version made his sound good, but like Simon said, u need SOUL to sing that song and ANTHONY HAS ZIP!!!)

They kept showing Carrie's face even before they said Anthony was leaving.  Probly cuz everyone thot she was gonna go home (including herself?...)

I have been rooting for Bo since day 1.  I was sad to see Anthony go, but that is because I liked all of the final four.  He was the worst out of the four.  I think it will be Vonzell next week with a final two of Bo and Carrie with Bo winning. (gotta predict my fave to win ;) )

Bo rocked tonight. The second song (without the band) gave me goosebumps.  I think he will win this whole thing.  It was hard to get through to his number, too.  Good sign.  (And I loved the recording of Bo answering his lines.)

Ashley Tisdale also counts, though she's not on a cheesy reality show. (No offense to AI fans)

You never know...some of those teeny-boppers with their speed-dial phones don't know the best thing when they hear it. 

I am hoping Vonzell will go home though.  I was wanting that anyway, but after last night's performances, she's just too "cute" with all her songs.  Just like Clive Davis said after her first song, she has that problem with too much "smiling" when she sings.  I am definitely rooting for Bo now.  No way Carrie can beat what he did.

I don't know..I am just not digging the top 2 this season...I mean ya...there's no question that they are good singers.....but this is the BEST that they can do in finding the "best of the best" in America???? I am not seeing why everyone is obsessed with these 2 performers....to me they sound like any other "rocker" ex. the lead singer of Creed or the lead singer of Nickelback......and any other "country singer" ex. Martina McBride...etc.....to me there's nothing so unique that they stand out from every other singer in their genre.

Yeah if Latoya had made it to the top 2 I would definitely have voted for her instead of Fantasia.  However, I still don't get why people (people here) dont like Fantasia.  I'm not gettin the "Macy Gray" thing at all.  I think of all the Idol contestants, she had the most unique voice- that fun gospel-ish style of hers.  But I was very disappointed in her album though (Missy Elliott wrote most of her songs) and I think she's killed her own "I Believe."

And all female country singers sound the exact same. But Bo is different. He puts on a great show and it's about time that a rocker won the competition. Well...American Idol Season 5 is back, and the 2 hour premiere was tonight. Back with the usuals: people who think they can sing...but suck, twins competing with one another, R&B wannabes swooning Paula Abdul, a few Frank Sinatra copycats, people hitting everything but the right notes....and a few that seem to shine. I don't know why I keep watching this show...I know it is the same thing all the time...but alas, it gives me something to laugh about and takes up a few of my boring evenings! I usually only watch American Idol during the auditions, and during the last few episodes before the winner is crowned.  I love watching all those people who think they can sing, but cannot.  Then when Simon tells them they suck, they ether go off and cry, or throw a giant tantrum and swear  ;D

I loved that one girl a few seasons ago who was singing the praises of how great the judges all are and how much she loves them.  Then when they tell her she can't sing, she starts ragging on what a bunch of sons of bitches they all are and just how much she hates them  ;D

Yea I watched it too, it is addicting.

Very addicting.  I got a big kick out of the self proclaimed intelligent guy singing "If I Only Had A Brain" ;D

man, I was watching those auditions and I was like, "what rock do these people crawl out from under?"....some of them are totally wacko! :o

They are all pre-screened, too.  You KNOW some of those screeners are saying "let's let every 5th MAJOR bozo through so we can give Simon's blood pressure a lift" :D



oh I know....that is crazy! :D  Some of those people...I just cringe when I see them...and I think to myself, "why would you embarrass yourself in front of millions of people like that?" ??? :o

There's some guy in Britain who has a court order against him preventing him form going to these type of auditions.  His has been to all of them and has been consistently turned away as crap at singing but he is convinced that he is god's gift.  ::)

I wonder the same thing, Rhonda.  I mean.....you would think that their relatives would be like, "well, maybe American Idol just isn't for you" or something.....but I guess a lot of them are just trying to be supportive no matter what the person's voice sounds like.  I too feel embarrassed for some of them too...I find myself going, "OH NO"...a lot whenever I watch those auditions. Yeah she's one of my other favorites. I also like that Katharine McPhee and my fiance likes Patrick Hall. 
I have a feeling they may make it to the top 24, but that's when the show starts making me mad because it's no longer in the hands of the judges (who actually know TALENT).  Instead the show is run by the teeny-boppers who abuse their speed dial.  >:(

I missed the show, but I went to the website to see the top 24....I am pretty pleased with the choices. ;)

Ok...after watching the girls perform tonight...here are my top 3 selections (in no particular order)



Lisa Tucker (beautiful girl...equally beautiful voice)
Paris Bennett (she is adorable and so full of energy...and SOO talented)
Mandisa (such a classy lady....very beautiful voice)


here are my bottom 3 selections:

Brenna Gethers (I don't like her voice...and I think she is a beatch)
Stevie Scott (her voice is so soft, you can hardly hear her...it's nothing that makes an impact on you)
Heather Cox (her voice is not very memorable...I think she is just so-so)

Lisa, Mandisa, Paris, and Katherine were very good. Brenna, Stevie, Heather were pretty poor. The others were average.

There are people who watch more than just the auditions and the final episode?  The only two seasons I ever watched all the way through were the first 2.  The rest have gone downhill since, IMO.

I'm glad those annoying twins Terrell and Derrell Brittenum were kicked off the show.  Apparently, they were charged with forgery, theft by deception and financial identity fraud, and on top of that, they have both had run ins with the law before :o

Paris & Katharine have been my favorites from the auditions and Hollywood rounds.  However, I was slightly disappointed with them last night (although they did MUCH better than most).  I know they will go far, just they probly got a kinda rough start
Paris has great energy and excellent performance skills, but I thought she was a little too bouncy and cutesy for the song "Midnight Train to Georgia"
Katharine I love her voice but I thought the performance was kinda dull, plus those weird faces she was making at the camera

I think Lisa was by far the best last night- I hadn't got to hear much of her from the past episodes but she is great.  Great voice, great performance, great poise, and MODESTY (something some of those other girls need i.e. Brenna)

  Bobby was HORRIBLE and Gedeon just annoys me....I hope they go.


Yeah like why the **** would anybody sing Copa Cabana for AI??????  I think he needs a job singing on a cruise ship or something. 
I think Chris, Elliott, and Ace were the best last night.  Taylor, Taylor, Taylor, I love hearing his voice but I just can't watch him for long periods of time.  I get embarassed.  And I don't think he picked the best song ever.  Oh well, we'll see what happens.

Yes, Elliott was pretty good as well.  I agree about Taylor.  My husband thinks he may have some sort of muscular disorder as he seems to move pretty jerkily even when he's not singing.  Not to mention the "face" he makes :(

I thought that Bobby Bennett was cut loose too early.  There were quite a few better singers than him, but also many who were worse.  And he IS an entertainer, you gotta give him that.  :)

I woulda gotten rid of the young kid (I forget his name) and "Sway".  Both of their performances sucked big time.  >:(

The other guy that got whacked (I forget his name)... it is too bad that his original rendition was so bad.  I think he sang "Come to My Window" MUCH MUCH better when he did it as his exit finale.  But I can not complain that he got whacked because the first time he sang it, it really was crappy.  His finale showed that he really DOES have a great singing voice.  :)

The chick who got cut (the one who's the model) I was not surprised.  Her reendition of "Because the Night" was derivative and gher alocution is terrible.  I would have whacked the girl who butchered "Midnight Train to Georgia"... that performance looked more like a Gary Coleman impression than Gladys Knight.  ::)

My thought at this stage?  I see strongest players as the grey-haired guy, or the large black woman (she goes by one name, I forget now).  Both of them impressed me.

I love american adol but i'm just dissapointed. it should  have been more fair. some of the people can't even sing. well, moreover there are so many good singers who doesn't give a crap about AI. The voting system isn't just less than perfect, it is stupid.  If the worst singer on the show had only fifty people voting for them over and over again, they would beat out 1000 people voting just once.  In the future, AI seriously needs a way to correct the voting system, and at least let the judges have SOME control of it.

*ugh!*  The girls were horrible tonight.  It's like they are picked slow, dull, and boring songs.  The ones who picked more upbeat songs can't sing.  I seriously hope Brenna & Heather (or Kinnik) go home.  AND I seriously hope the guys do a whole helluva lot better than the girls

I agree. Most of the performances just were not impressive.

Here're the ones I can remember finding somewhat positive:

-"Who's Loving You" : The performance wasn't the best of the night, but it was decent. I also give props for the choice of song, simply because I think it's a cool one to pick.
-"Something to Talk About" - Most of the time, when somebody takes on Bonnie Raitt, the result is excruciating, because it's hard to do Bonnie unless you are Bonnie. This performance had some rough spots, but overall I liked it.
-"I Want You to Need Me" - Wow. I was actually impressed by this one. It sounded very good to me.
-"Cry" - This was not the best Mandisa could do. She is more talented than this performance. That said, this performance was still not bad.

And I thought these two were decent, but not top tier:
-"The Wind Beneath My Wings" - It was a decent vocal performance, but just not a song worth doing. However, although even she thought she was doing Bette's version, I give her props for doing vocal stylings more like the Gladys Knight version than the Midler one. I think that kept it from being a bad performance, even if it wasn't among the best.
-"Why Haven't I Heard From You" - I thought it was okay. Not the best, but I would listen to it again. It was a good song with good energy.

And the others really just had nothing redeeming about them for me.

I'm amazed they still have American Idol...I think they're going to scrap Australian Idol...and Big Brother (I hope they scrap both). The world will be spared a lot of arrogant a*sholds who think they can sing, and the whole world should agree. If I were a judge on there, I would make Simon Cowell look like a fairy.

Some good performances last night...

-"A Change is gonna Come" was excellent, that guy does the old R&B tunes well.  Like Jackson said, this guy is a natural  :)

-The guy who closed the show with that Fuel song was awesome.  8)

Low-lights?

-The 16 year old who butchered "Grapevine", it was terrible.  The "cute factor" is gonna wear off of him pretty quickly .  ::)

-The guy who is the "crooner".  If Sinatra were still alive he woulda come up on stage and punched him out.

-The guy named Sway who sang the Stevie Wonder tune.  What is this guy thinking?  ???


The Gals

-Mandisa is gonna be the one to beat.  She's really good.  8)

-Heather Cox has gotta go soon... she's vacuuous.

-Paris Bennett was alot better this time around.  But she's not in Mandisa's league, and all that fake "cutesy pie" stuff is gonna get old quick.  ::)

..as for the rest I have not formed any strong opinion yet.  'Tis all entertaining though.
