I've watched both of them since I was around 10...I like them both and think thier both about the same popularity wise ;)

Cool Mark thanks, I'd like to hear from some non-racing fans too to get an idea which is a more recognized name :)

I have heard of both, but the daytona 500 is the main one I hear mentioned.
My hubby and son watch once in awhile.

Indy 500, only because it's in Indy. And the Brickyard 400 is more popular than the Daytona 500 in this state, too.

I've never followed racing but i think i heard of indy long before daytona

I conducted a breif survery on this side of the pond amongst my Messenger contacts..
out of 7..
3 Had heard of Daytona, 1 had heard of both and 3 had no idea about either.

And thanks to everyone for giving me their thoughts on this :) I would have thought that Indy would be a better known race, especialy outside of the US.

Indy. I am not a racing fan, but when I was little my dad and I lived in Ohio. We went to the Indy 500. I don't remember much about it, though.
