Subject: VH1's "When ... Ruled the World" shows.

Anybody else into this series? It's almost like a newer version of Behind the Music, even if not all the featured things are music.
I've seen Metallica, Star Wars and 80's pop/metal on there in the past - all were good. Even if much of the info I basically already know, I never get tired of documentaries and flashbacks. Every one will feature its own slightly different take on the subject. :)
Metallica's episode, for instance, featured more on the bandmembers' early years and lives than the Behind the Music did. And 80's hairmetal detailed the beginnings of the genre and the feel for it really well.
They need to do a BTTF episode. You better believe I'd watch that. ;D
Just saw the Jerry Springer episode last night, which promted me to post this.
I also enjoyed this, it started with some short pieces on his childhood immigration via Ellis Island, to America. Then as the fun Liberal politician (one clip had him wrestling a bear to raise money for the Olympics. The bear won, LOL!), later TV commentator and news anchor, leading to the beginning days of the show. Which got progessively wilder with the years went on. ;)
Featured commentaries from head bouncer Steve, and many current and former producers.
Since much of the information from the press, TV, and books is now a few years old -- when the show was in its peak -- it was nice to see an "updated" perspective. I got sick of it around late 1999, so I didn't even know they did Springer Cam stuff (taking cameras to people's homes for confrontations!) to save it from cancellation for a couple years.

I liked "When Metal Ruled The World", though not interested on the rest...
I like to see an episode about new wave, grunge, music videos, and Beavis & Butt-Head,

That series is pretty cool.
My favorite was "When X-Rated Ruled the World" Thy had iinterviews with the wife of porn legend John Curtis Holmes and some of his buddies and girlfriends. Heck, they could do a "When John C Holmes Ruled the World" show all by itself.
