I don't think Scientologists have a beef with medications in general,* just psychiatric medications. They're a threat to the Scientology biz. Actually, she could make noises if she was in pain, it was everyone around her that couldn't scream and yell.  And besides she had an epidural, so her pain if any, was probably very little.

The pain of childbirth isn't so bad that you need to scream and yell.  Yeah it hurts, but what good does screaming do you?  It surely doesn't make the pain go away.

It made me feel better.....then again, I was screaming AT the stupid nurse who was INSISTING that there was nothing wrong with my epidural when only 1/2 of me was numb (turns out the catheter had come out so all of the "stuff" had settled in the side of my body I was laying on) and wouldn't let me roll over on my back to alleviate the back pain (since my son decided to come out face up instead of face down) :o  Needless to say, when I called her a "stupid B!tch", she left and never came back and I stopped screaming ;D
