Subject: Howard Stern's Return To "Terrestrial" Radio?

Written By: loki 13 on 05/13/06 at 9:17 am

Howard Stern said he was approached by three radio stations about his possible return to
"Terrestrial" radio. He said he would "No way return to terrestrial radio, no censorship, no
fines and no FCC." He said he is happy where he is at, and that's where he plans to stay.

Howard Stern was paid 500 million dollars to go to satellite radio. Sirius reported losing
money because of all the stock options it gave Howard.

I think Howard Stern will return to Terrestrial radio because he is the ultimate egotist.
On satellite he has no restrictions. No restrictions means, no controversy. Howard lived
off controversy. He also pushed to the limits and people listened to hear how far he would
go. The fines meant nothing more than more ratings. Religious groups, politicians and fans
alike would listen just to hear what he would say next. Now that he is on satellite radio he
is out of the media spotlight. No one reports on is antics anymore, and people can only take
so many potty jokes. Satellite radio has so much to offer, why would people tune in to hear
"Gary and Wendy the retard."

Howard craves media attention, he needs to be in the spotlight, he is being stifled on satellite.
An egotist without attention. I feel his return is just a matter of time, to many people are
forgetting all about Howard and his farting jokes. The obscurity will eventually get to him and
he will be back in all his glory.

Never cared much for him. There is a big disappointment in the number of people they thought would sign up for pay radio.  I am glad, better to work at keeping the free speech on free airwaves, rather than free speech on airways only for people who can afford it.

Yeah but satelite radio provides people with much, much better options.  Local radio stations mostly suck.  Around here for example all we have is country, rap/r&b, tejano, classic rock(and they play very, very mainstream stuff... no deep cuts), and top 40.  We don't even have a station specifically for current rock.  No reggae either.

Satellite or terrestrial, the problem is Howard has jumped the shark. He's done. Of course, he'll still try to recapture his glory days of the 1990s, like Rush Limbaugh does, but if Howard had any class, he would take his 500 mil., move to Brazil and found a leper colony!

Do you even listen to Howard Stern?  If Howard claims he isn't going back to Terrestrial radio, then he won't.  He wouldn't lie to his entire audience and then turn his back on them and go back, because he knows that he would never hear the end of it and he would be considered a sell-out.  He is an egotist, which is exactly why he won't go back, because he doesn't want to be labeled a sell-out

He turned his back on them when he decided if they want to hear him they'll have to pay. With the money he is making he could have sponsored his own show and let his loyal listeners tune in for free.

I don't listen any more, I refuse to get satellite radio just because of Stern's decision to go there.
I was an avid Stern listener since he first came to WYSP in the early 80's. Stern holds no loyalty
to his fans, only to himself and his money. As Danoota has stated, he turned his back on his fans
when he made the switch. Don't buy into his rhetoric about his creativity being compromised by
the FCC. His switch to satellite was strictly a monetary decision. He had more listeners when he
pushed the limits. Satellite has too much to offer, he will either drift off into obscurity, or come
back to terrestrial radio in a blaze of glory. He will always be able to twist the story of his return
so the "Sell-out" label won't be slapped on his back.
