Subject: What clothes do people wear in the '00s?

In the '90s, there were two fabrics: denim and flannel. People dressed like hicks then. What do people tend to dress like now?

A lot of preppy style tight stuff is what is popular lately I guess, abercrombie/pac sun type stuff. People definitely seem to wear more showy clothing now compared to the '90s when people didn't care as much.

Yeah, either Hicks or Wannabe Gangsters...
I don't really know what people 'wear' these days, nor do I really care...lol

Hmm...people are much showier about their clothing than in the laid-back '90s.
The "boho style" (lots of neo-New Romantic stuff, colors like brown and olive green, Indian slippers)
Preppie (layered rainbow-colored and candy-colored polo shirts, North Face Jackets, pearls for girls, cardigans and moccasins for guys or perfectly clean white IZOD sneakers, cargo shorts, tight pants, fancy belts, hair ribbons)
Miniskirts with leggings.
Off the shoulder sweaters and shirts with big collars and cowl necks that are neo-'80s style.
Caftan capris.
Layered shirts with sweeping necks and "new romantic"-styled jewelry.
Uggs.
Birkenstock clogs.
Sweaters and cardigans for guys, sometimes with a suit-jacket.
Very tight pants or wind pants.
In the early '00s, the JLo, slutty sort of look with the velour tracksuit.
Hoop earrings.
Miniskirts with ruffles and bows.
"Hipster" and "indiemo" sort of fashion.
Messenger bags.
Big, brightly colored tote-bags.
'80s sorts of big-shouldered silhouettes.

Yeah. I'm not much of a fashion expert but people do love preppy stuff these days. The '90s were defidently more laid-back when it came to fashion.

Really? In the US, black is basically outre, unless it's black tights. Black is very '90s and out.

Strange.
Maybe it's the season. People tend to wear lots of blacks, grays, blues, dark greens etc now possibly due to it being winter. It the summer it is usually a mixture of whites, lighter blues, beige, yellows, reds etc.
