Subject: Death of the Action Hero
Written By: sonikuu on 05/26/06 at 7:30 pm
Is it just me or is the whole concept of the action hero dead now? I'm talking about the whole Schwarzenegger, Rambo, Van Damme type of action hero. From what I remember, Jet Li and Vin Diesel were the last real action heroes and their careers didn't last too long. I mean, does anyone care about Vin Diesel anymore? His last remotely big movie was The Pacifier, which is hardly an action movie. The whole action hero archetype seems to be nonexistent right now. What are your opinions on this?

The action hero genre is not dead, it's just in a lull. There will be another action hero blockbuster in the near future. The action hero has been part of American pop culture since the days of Superman comics and Flash Gordon matinee serials.
I'll be back!
