Subject: Happy Birthday Paul McC

When I'm 64

When I get older, losing my hair, many years from now,
Will you still be sending me a Valentine, birthday greetings, bottle of wine?
If I'd been out 'till quarter to three, would you lock the door?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?

Hmm------mmm---mmmh.
You'll be older, too. Aaah, and if you say the word, I could stay with you.

I could be handy, mending a fuse, when your lights have gone.
You can knit a sweater by the fireside, sunday mornings, go for a ride.
Doing the garden, digging the weeds, who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty four?

Every summer we can rent a cottage in the Isle of Wight if it's not too dear. We shall scrimp and save.
Ah, grandchildren on your knee, Vera, Chuck, and Dave.

Send me a postcard, drop me a line stating point of view.
Indicate precisely what you mean to say, yours sincerely wasting away.
Give me your answer, fill in a form, mine forever more.
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty four?

I believe as a birthday treat, his grandchildren will be singing the very song, on his knee.

Credited as Lennon/McCartney, but JL had nothing to do with it, even quoted saying "I would never even dream of writing a song like that." Originally written to celebrate PM's father 64th when PM was about 15 years old.

Lots of their songs were like that.  John wrote some without Paul, Paul wrote some without John, but they always put it down as Lennon/McCartney.

It was something like a 'gentleman's agreement' that they had with the songwriting credits...

Interestingly, not long ago, McCartney wanted to re-credit some of the songs that he predominantly wrote (i.e., 'Yesterday') as McCartney/Lennon, but Yoko was having none of that!

More interestingly, on the British issues of The Beatles first two singles ('Love Me Do' and 'Please Please Me') and the early copies of their debut LP, the songwriting credit was McCartney/Lennon...

When you get older, losing your teeth, many years from now?
Will ya still be whistlin' me a Dixie tune?
A birthday greeting, shoot me a moon!
If I went out tilll quarter-to-four,
Would you lock the door?

Will ya still hum me?
Will ya still gum me?
When I'm 64?

When you get old and your t*cough*at stretches out, we'll use Poli-grip!
Indicate precisely where ya want my tip,
(One nod's your as*bleep*shole, two is your lip!)
If I went out tilll quarter-to-four,
Would you lock the door?

Will ya still spread me?
Will ya still head me?
When I'm 64?

I could be handy licking a c*bleep*lit, when your b*oops*x is dry!
The night before your bridge club I'll take Geritol,
By Sunday morning, I'll f*bzzt*k 'em all!
Dusty old boxes, saggy ol' ti*sproing*ts!
Who could ask for more?

Will you invite us,
To share your arthritis?
When I'm 64?

Will you linger,
To give me the finger?
When I'm 64?

-- John Valby, When I'm 64, Track 3 on"What I Did On My Summer Vacation", 1986.  (also on the "non-CD CD",  when he released some of his old cassette-only stuff onto CD)

It's just such a good parody I had to transcribe the lyrics.  If I had a billion dollars, I'd drop at least $100M of it on getting Paul McCartney to record it for me.  If it's any consolation, he's pretty merciful to Paul in comparison to what he's done to Disney :)

But mods, if ya gotta nuke this post, go for it.  No harm, no foul.  I'm just laughing my head off imagining Paul singin' it.
