9/11, without a doubt!

Absolutely.  Anyone that thinks otherwise underestimates the magnitude this event had on the world at large, not just the US.  Hell, I'd take another year of Bush if 9/11 never happens.  I knew someone that lost her father......I wish I could undo that day so she'd never have to know what it felt like.

The lawyer who handled my divorce was on the phone with a friend who was in the twin towers when the plane hit.  She was in the second tower and didn't realize what was going on until she started seeing people jumping.  Her last words to my lawyer were "I gotta go, bodies".  They never found her.  I understand what you mean about not wanting friends to live through that kind of pain.  I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

9/11...not only because so many people lost their lives, it's because it's made the hateful side in some people really come out. Look at how many people hate ANYONE who happens to be a follower of Islam...the actions of a super-radical few, hiding behind Islam to justify their hateful acts of destruction, have (in the minds of some narrow-minded bigots)tainted anyone who's Muslim. I used to go to boarding school up in Monmouth County, and some of the girls there lived in North Jersey...I wonder if some of them eventually worked in the Twin Towers and lost their lives...

second...as a huge fan of this guy..I'd have to say the death of Dale Earnhardt, earlier that same year. I can imagine how Dale Jr. felt knowing his father, who was also his mentor in racing about losing his dad. And yes, his father died trying to help his son win that Daytona race. I don't think he'd do that for anyone else except Junior.
