Subject: 2 die 4

Written By: kairi747 on 07/21/06 at 9:49 am

okay, this may sound a little weird, but i've decided that i'm choosing the music to be played when i die.  i'm not planning on doing that for awhile, but, best to be prepared.  so far i've chosen songs like

tears in heaven-eric clapton
time-alan parson's project
100 years-five for fighting
what a wonderful world-louis armstrong

i'm sure you can help me get a good list going.  thanks for your thoughts!

we'll probably just end up getting stuck with the horrible racket put out by a bunch of bozos playing on harps who have never picked one before. and that's if we're lucky!

i always used to say i want to hear "Starship Trooper" by yes when i die, that brilliant flangey guitar and hammond coda at the end. it's cosmic!

Forever Young -Alphaville
Another One Bites the Dust and Who Wants To Live Forever -Queen

And yes, I'm serious. I'm actually planning to have this written in my will.

hmm...hadn't considered another one bites the dust, but i already have who wants to live forever.  also, not familiar with alphaville's forever young, but i do have rod stewart's song by the same name (i know it's not the same song).  in case of an untimely death, i also thought blondie's die young, stay pretty would be a good choice!  ;D

you really can't have a proper funeral without pachabel's canon!  i was also thinking of jesu, joy of man's desiring since i walked down the aisle to that when i got married.

I remember always wanting to have Duran Duran's Ordinary World played at my funeral but now I find that would sound a bit corny.

I was thinking of the rendition of "Dust in the Wind" by Will Ferrell in "Old School".  I want that whole scene played at my funeral.  Except they need to dub over it so that he says, "You're my boy, Rice!  You're my boy..."

My song at my funeral will be my all-time favourite "Close My Eyes" by Paul Janz, which actually has fitting lyrics ...

"And when I close my eyes, i feel you are near"

I'm gonna be a real bastard.

Cyber-Tec Project, Let Your Body Die, for the techno/industrial geeks.
Electric Hellfire Club, Highway to Hell, as a nod to the old-school dino-rockers.
Jim Carroll Band, People Who Died, to offend anyone else who showed up.

Dobbs willing, my last check will be to the undertaker, and it will bounce.  But if it doesn't, and anyone spends my money on a funeral instead of a proper drunken wake, they can consider themselves warned :)
