News services are running the story that this week, Tom Cruise cruised on over to Brooke Shields' crib and delivered a "heartfelt apology" for his remarks about her use of antidepressants for postpartum depression.

Personally, I think it is a little too little, too late. I hope that Brooke told him to shove the apology where the sun don't shine. But I'm sure Brooke is a bigger "man" than Tom and accepted his apology.

It's hard to overestimate the influence of Python on pop culture in the English-speaking world.  Monty Python's Flying Circus' "Spam" sketch is most certainly responsible for our current use of the word "spam."

You can probably find both the "Spam" sketch and the "fish-slapping dance" on YouTube.  I don't know how much Python is posted there.  I did go looking for a certain video by the group Ministry and found the exalted "Ministry of Silly Walks" sketch posted a few times!

The first comment on that page mentions "Rosemary's Baby."  The problem is, in the film, Guy Woodhouse exchanges Rosemary as the bearer of the anti-christ in order to help his acting career.  I don't know what Tom's getting out of the deal if that's the case!

Maybe it was an hysterical pregnancy like in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf."

That gives me an idea.  If Tom's acting career goes to hell, he can always sell Amway.  Amway is like L. Ron meets Ponzi!  There's a handful of people at the top of the Amway pyramid who rake it in hand over fist.  Most Amway salespeople are poor chumps who can't get the business off the ground.  Their garages, attics, closets, and dens are full of Amway crap they're gonna hafta relocate after the bank forecloses on the house.  These folks keep shoveling smoke for Amway because the big guys are all "good Christians."  "They would never steer us wrong, right honey?  Can you talk to the collection agency guy while I go nuke up some Ramen?"
