Subject: Are you ready for 2006 to be over?

Written By: batfan2005 on 11/30/06 at 10:17 pm

I know I am. I'm glad it's almost over. This hasn't been a great year for me. When I look back on 2006 I think that it was a rather dull and depressing year pop-culture wise, and stressful in my personal life.

The year was okay for me, as I'm almost 1 year into my new job which is going well but other than that I'm looking forward to 2007.

I don't know, I think it was alright overall, but I am looking forward to the next year of course.

Heck yeah!  2007 is going to be a much more productive year for me than 2006!

I thought 2005 was bad, but 2006 just hasn't been much better. There are always highs and lows, but this year had quite a bit more lows to deal with.

Ugh! yes this has been one of the worst and lamest years of my life.

I'm looking forward to 2007 because there's a lot of good movies coming out, and hopefully the music will be better too.

A very lame year personally, and of course pop culture has sucked this entire decade pretty much. Infact this year has been the worst for me personally since 2002.

Same for me. 2007 is shaping up to be a hundred times more noteable for me personally than this year.

I'm looking forward to July 18, 2008.  ;)

Yeah, I guess so. 2006 was an o.k year, but hopefully 2007 will be better.

Indeed!  But the silver lining for me is I benefited from many hard lessons, so if I had to do it all over again, I would...

..I would shove a grenade in my mouth and pull out the pin!

Totally agree! This decade pop-culture wise has been lame. Commercials suck and aren't worth sitting through (thankfully there's Tivo), Reality tv was a bad idea and I'm glad it's dying. Tv-dramas are obviously the new craze and have kept television alive, but their are only a handful of good ones, Heroes, 24, Lost, Battlestar Galatica. But really it's been a bad year. too many low points, esspecially for us conservatives...

I've had my ups and downs this year. Just before this year had started, I found out that I had to move out and was originally going to move to Weston-Super-Mare but I chose London instead. I also continued with my adult education classes until July and started a new college in September.

During my time in London, some staff members left my house and new ones joined the team. New residents moved in but one who originally slept on my floor moved downstairs. A resident who left in July to go to hospital moved back in last month but she's downstairs now.

Yes, I'm ready to give 2006 the big ol' boot up the a**! Will 2007 be any better though? Well, I thought 2006 was going to be better than 2005, but turned out to be much the same. Still in some low paid, overworked job, still studying (yeah I stuffed around in my second year, so a 3 year course = 4 years for me. Yay!) and still *cough* living at home.  :-\\

My year was ok until a few weeks ago and then it became the worst of my life.  can't wait for '07

Sure, why not. You know, even though every year seems to go by super fast, it took me a long time to get used to saying and writing 2006, for some reason. I think I felt that way about 2003, and I also think I felt that way in the 90's, with the years 1993, 1995, and 1998. Can anyone relate to this.?

Also, the more I think about it, the more I see the 2000s, as a watered down 90's, without the trademark dark cynicism. Looking back, that's probably really the only thing I don't like about the 90's.

I don't know if I'm so much ready for 2006 to be over as I am for 2007 to begin.

I remember seeing a commercial (for Nissan maybe?) that said, "Life's a journey, enjoy the ride." Not a bad way to look at things, I guess.

Guessing 2007 will be the same as 2006, but Deborah Gibson will definately be her comeback!  8)

Her song "Famous" is edgy, relevant, and she's working with Neal Pogue on several songs on her upcoming album...

Despite what others say, I know 'anything is possible'

(As long she doesn't force Lorenzo Lamas to become a rapper and hang out with Dina Lohan)

I hope so.....too much sh*tty music.  Although God knows it'll follow itself into next year, so I don't know why I bother.

I wish bands like Led Zeppelin were still around.  :(

I never thought I'd say this, but me too (although that's sorta for personal reasons more than pop culture).

Even though it was sort of "blah" in certain respects, some cool stuff came out of it. I think 2007 will be a mix of mid '00s with some signs of new things to come. Some trends will probably start noticably dying next year.
