Subject: Your Favorite songs of 2007 so far

Written By: tv on 01/06/07 at 1:28 am

Mine are:

So Much Pain In My Life-Saigon/Trey Songz(Rap)
Be With You-Elisabeth Withers(R&B)
Lost Without You-Robin Thicke(R&B)
If Hip Hop Is Dead-Nas(Rap)

Some of these songs came out last month(December 2006) but could still qualify for 2007 music.

There is a new record by Mika called Grace Kelly. The lead singer has a destinctive voice and has been described as a cross between Queen and Scissor Sisters.

"Wind It Up" by Gwen Stefani (for now until it gets played out, lol) and "That's That" and "Crazy" by Snoop Dogg. Right now reminds me of the beginning of 2005 with a Gwen Stefani and Snoop Dogg CD released in Dec. of the previous years.

There are a couple of albums to be released in 2007 that look promising, but not what I would consider a favourite. Bit too early in the year right now.

Those are the ones actually released in 2007 I like. All the other "2007 songs" I like are 2006 crossovers.

I love it too!!  I stumbled on it rather unexpectedly and I haven't stopped listening to it!   I like the way it keeps changing "genres" but still has a great flow to it...  I read somewhere that the song was written as a protest against his record label's attempts to get him to cater to the commercial audience.

Seriously, if you have not heard this song yet, you are missing out. It hasn't been released yet, but some radio stations have been playing it. It's the shizznit. Who knew Marilyn Manson could pull off a British-80s-rock sound.

A few offhand, some technically late '06:

Sweet Escape - Gwen Stefani (not as good as the Love Angel Music Baby singles, but not too bad in its own right)
Makes Me Wonder - Maroon 5 (basically "This Love" redux, but a little catchier)
How To Save a Life - The Fray
Girlfriend - Avril Lavigne

Yeah, those are good. I think "U and Ur Hand" was late last year, but will be associated with '07 pop culture. Ironically, despite how catchy it is, I bet it would've been too vulgar to have been a single in the pre-1997 time.

Get It Shawty-Lloyd
Do It-Nelly Furtado
Stronger, Can't Tell Me Nothing-Kanye West(people hate him but he is a great artist no doubt I think even though sometimes he is a litte full of himself I admit though.)
The People-Common(this is real 100% hip-hop.)
You-Lloyd featuring Lil Wayne(late 2006/early 2007.)
Be With You-Elisabeth Withers
Hate On Me-Jill Scott(she has never sound better vocally in my opinion but unfortantely her songs doesn't appeal to Top 40 radio stations or hip-hop stations so she'll never get the credit she deserves for the quality of music that she makes.) If Jill did get played on Top 40 radio she would be on Kanye West's level as far as popularity goes.

Here's 5 awesome dance hits for 2007 that I have become so addicted to in the last little while ...

Let Me Think About It - Ida Corr vs Fedde Le Grande
Song 4 Mutya - Groove Armada featuring Mutya Buena
Acceptable in the 80s - Calvin Harris
Sexual Healing - Alibi vs. Rockefeller (after hearing this version, you'd never even think it was originally by Marvin Gaye)
Be Without You (Hands Up) - WiFi featuring Melanie M (makes the original by Mary J. Blige sound like a whole other song)

A current song I seem to like right now is "Bubbly" by Colbie Caillat.

Autumn song & Indian Summer by the Manic Street Preachers are both great. Well the entire album is good.

My best of list for 2007 is done. I managed 107: http://www.last.fm/user/TragicallyUnhip/journal/2007/12/21/603405/

It may not be in a finalised order, but it's somewhat accurate for me. Haven't bothered doing an album list this year.

And it's in a traditional "countdown" format this year. (107 at top, 1 at bottom)

Lets Ride-The Game
Anoynomous-Bobby Valentino
Shut Up and Drive-Rihanna(song sounds like it came out of an 80's cops show so thats why I like it.)
Ice Box-Omarion
Makes Me Wonder-Maroon 5
If Hip-Hop Is Dead-Nas(late 2006/early 2007.)
Last Nite-Diddy featuring Keyshia Cole(late 2006/early 2007.)

I'll add to my list:

Rehab-Amy Winehouse
Can't Help But Wait-Trey Songz
Apologize-Timbaland Presents One Republic
Lets Chill-Ne-Yo(didn't do good on the Billboard Charts but who cares.)
Wake Up Call-Maroon 5
Say It Right-Nelly Furtado(named that song previously.)
Take You There-Sean Kingston
Flashing Lights-Kanye West featuring Dwele

Mine are:

So Much Pain In My Life-Saigon/Trey Songz(Rap)
Be With You-Elisabeth Withers(R&B)
Lost Without You-Robin Thicke(R&B)
If Hip Hop Is Dead-Nas(Rap)

Some of these songs came out last month(December 2006) but could still qualify for 2007 music.

I hated that Lost Withou You song... it basically sucked!!!
