Subject: Will you buy this car?

It's a Fortwo!

For a bit I was like, "What's a Fort-woah?"  And then I realized that it was "For Two" :P

Only 40 mpg is kinda lame for a small car like that.  I can get more with a Geo Metro and that seats 3.5 :D

This will be a dud, just like every other attempt.

No matter what people claim, nobody really gives a damn about "Driving Green", or anything else.  They want monster SUVs the size of a city block, that get 3 gallons per mile.

If people really cared, they would be converiting their cars to Bio-diesel, driving compact hybrid cars, or vehicles like the Geo Metro, Suzuki Swift, or the Yugo.  But they don't.  They drive Ford Expiditions, Lexus RXs, and anything else that makes a tank look "economical".

Smart wasn't profitable??? Could've fooled me,i swear they are all over the place here. They are quite expensive for such a small car but with the parking problems we have it definitely pays off.

It's not like Europeans are Smurfs either.

If it gave me 80 mpg I'd totally get one.

Making Love In A Subaru, by Damaskas

Making Love in a Subaru
that's what I wanna do with you
We can always feel around the steering wheel
there seems to be so much that we can do

An alibi that I will not allow
is when you tell me that you don't know how
'Cause it's just like being in bed
all your clothing you must shed
you can stick 'em in the glove box for now

Don't try to tell me it's a sin
just lie back, I'll put a hickey on your chin
When you act this indiscreet, creating so much body heat
the tachometer will nearly start to spin

And now let us lie between the sheets
and thank heaven for reclining bucket seats
Don't touch that for goodness sake
you'll release the parking brake
we'll both start to roll down the street (yipes)

Now I'm gonna try to lock your door
Wait a minute, now I'm feeling sore
It's not that I'm not able, something's sticking in my navel
my gosh, it's the four-on-the-floor (ouch)

Pigeons overhead flying high
Circling above us in the sky
now I'm feeling ill-at-ease, my darling would you please
close the sunroof something just fell in my eye (yuck)

You say that something's pinching at your feet
hey look what you just found, hey ain't that neat
it's my roach-clip and my bong
they've been missing for so long
all this time they must have been beneath the seat

Now you're suffocating and I'm water-logged
all the windows are beginning to get fogged
So my dear with your consent
I'll open up the flow-thru vent
I only hope it also isn't clogged

There are other things that we can do
but only if you're tired of getting scratched
Honk the horn real good
and you'll wake the neighborhood
and they'll have a marvelous view

Hey don't underestimate these things...Damlier-Chrysler, VW, Ford and others are banking heavy on the "Smart Car" concept.

They snickered at the VW Bug in '49, the Mini and most Japanese cars in the the '60's...

All it will take is for gas to go back up to the high $3 or up to $4 or $5 and people will snap anyting up to save a few dollars. (I remember people in California following around car carriers of diesel VW Rabbits in the '70's, just like they were following around Toyota Hybrids to dealerships last year)

Don't believe me? Check out the price of petrol in Europe and Japan and look at the goofy looking cars they drive around in!

My thoughts exactly. I gotta have some steel around me.

Plus, can you imagine trying to keep that thing on the interstate at 80 mph while there's a 30 mph crosswind?

No thanks.

I imagine that a 20mph front or rear impact would do enough damage for an insurance company to consider it a total loss. Repacking 4 airbags, replacing the bodywork, lights, support bars, axle, suspension, and so on would easily run what the car costs new.

I kinda like the way it looks, but I'd never buy one: if I wanted a 2 seat, 8 foot long vehicle with 60 HP, I'd buy an old Goldwing.
