Subject: Adult entertainment industry and the DVD vs. HD/Blu-ray war

The topic of which video format will prevail has come up as a topic here before.  I didn't think to consider the role of pornography producers.  The influence of this $10+ billion industry on entertainment technology is undeniable.

What's more, it tells me pornography is here to stay.  My own feelings about that are equivocal.  However, this might explain why the justice dept. says it's going to crack down on porn, but never does.  This ain't the '70s folks!  If they want to take on the scourge of porn, they're going to have to take on the giant corporations that manufacture and transmit adult entertainment media.

Just think how much money the porno producers would be bringing in today if John Holmes were still alive.

Hiis Johnny Wadd character would have been IDEAL for today's big screen TV's.  :P

John Holmes on HD?  That would be the first ever 3-D picture that wouldn't require 3-D glasses ;D

Just don't watch 'Wonderland' on HD.  Those bullets will fly right through the screen :o

Holmes actually made a 3-D movie but I have never seen it.

I am not sure WHY they would make a 3-D movie with Holmes.  :-\\

Both.  Pay him the money, and he'd do it.  Especially after he developed the big coke habit.  The character "Dirk Diggler" from "Boogie Nights" was based partially on John Holmes.

About the only way that they could completely get rid of porn would be if they spiked the water supply of the entire United States with saltpeter.

Yes.  After he got out of jail, he was desperate for money and made a gay flick called "The Private Pleasures of John C. Holmes".  From what I have been told it was pretty lame, but they paid him huge bux to do it.  :-\\

It just seems weird to me that porn would be in 3d - Gay porn makes sense. I know there are women who watch porn too but is that audience large enough to cater too?

I imagine that the 3-D movie was a gimmick, simply a way to get more people to come to the theatres.  You know, "Hey they're showing a 3-D porno flick at the drive-in.  Let's go and get those cool 3-D glasses."  8)

How scary is the idea of 3D "money shot"?  ;D

Not half as scary as seeing Detective Johnny Wadd turn around suddenly in 3-D.  ;D

It's called M-3D (Originally titled as Lollipop Girls In Hard Candy and later as Scoring).  A group of friends and I saw it at the Inwood Theatre in Dallas in '91.  Total cheesefest and the piss-poor 3-D effects were a riot! (Watch out!  That box on the conveyor belt is coming right atcha!  :D ;D )  There was one 3-D money shot.  The best wasn't even in the film; some guy in the theatre yelled out "Put it back in your pants, Pee-Wee!" about 20 minutes into the movie.  ;D
