Subject: Is 2007 rap music a wateted down version of 2003-2005 rap music?

Written By: tv on 06/10/07 at 5:00 pm

I was listening to clips of one of rappers T-Pain;s songs and it seems to me his lastest stuff could be just watered down 2003-2005 Glam Rap. I mean obviously T-Pain has that glam rap style to him that 2003-2005 Glam Rap because his music lacks the "Dirty sound" of 2003-2005 bcause it is more melodilic if you will than the 2003-2005 Glam Rap. So is 2007 Rap just a waterted down version of the 2003-2005 rap music?

It's generally just crappier, I liked a lot more rap before like fall 2005, now it's way more hit and miss.

That's because T-Pain isn't a rapper. Just a crappy "RnB" artist that uses synthesizers on his voice to hide the fact that he can't really sing.  :-\\

I think 2007 rap can be characterized by songs like "This is Why I'm Hot" by Mims and "Party Like a Rockstar" by Shop Boyz, which is basically a derivative of crunk. There's also the rap/r&b crossover that's really popular now, such as Pretty Ricky, Bow Wow, Lloyd, and T-Pain.
