Subject: Is 50 Cent over?

Written By: popking on 07/11/07 at 1:16 pm

It seems like his popularity has really gone down the toilet lately. His new singles are flopping on the radio and he recently delayed his album to be released in September, it was supposed to be released in June. This seems like a long way from 2003-2005, when 50 Cent basically dominated.

So is the 50 Cent backlash here?

With the conversion rate, in Canada he is 47 cents, but to me his music isn't all that good, so it should be no sense :D

Yeah, I'd say 50 Cent is pretty much done. Its safe to say, I don't think he will ever be as big as he was c. 2003.

He showed his true self at the Live 8 Concert by swearing on stage at 3pm in front of children of all ages.

I agree. Even if it does do somewhat well, I think it'll seem to the public like an attempt to recreate his 2003 success, rather than an actual continuation of it. His image seemed to have as much to do with his success as his actual music (he was one of the few '00s rappers to kind of fit the "gangsta" image, albeit made over). And that usually tends to date most artists quicker.

No, wait 50 Cent was pretty big in the 1st half of 2005 too. I would say 50 Cent was probably the most dominant musical artist for those 2 years(2003 and 2005) on the Billboard Hot 100 I mean every hit he had basically went top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. I doubt he will ever be as big as we was from 2003-2005  because after his success up to to mid 2005 snap rap took over and 50 really doesn;t fit the whole snap-rap trend.

Poor Fiddy!

He could survive nine bullet wounds, but not the fickle public!  I'm sure he cries himself to sleep on those silk pillows!
Snoop Dogg swings by his crib now and then, knows just how to cheer old Fiddy up!
:P

Yeah, he was just as big if not bigger in 2005 than he was in 2003, it's crazy how much can change in just 2 years :o

He was arguably bigger in 2005 than 2003, he had 4 songs in the top 10 at one point, but he won't top that again probably yes.
