There has been an explosion of a transformer in a street in New York, there is smoke everywhere and the news now is very sketchy.

Appears little damage done, no injuries or anything thankfully, terrorism not suspected.

They're saying a big steam pipe blew up, and denying any terrorist links.

It is not smoke, it is steam, but the pictures look bad.

A steam pipe exploded. Transportation around there still isn't as bad as it was in Queens this afternoon

One person has been killed and at least 20 others injured after a steam pipe exploded underneath a street in central New York during the evening rush hour.
