Subject: Rush Hour 3 banned in China

Written By: Philip Eno on 08/11/07 at 7:06 am

Rush Hour 3 has been banned by Chinese censors.

The country's Film Bureau says the decision to block the import f the Jackie Chan movie was for commercial reasons.

But it is also thought that censors objected to a scene featuring a Chinese organised crime family, reports Variety.com.

Xiao Ping, of China Film Group, said: "We think it will not be popular in China."

Rush Hour 3 received its premiere in Los Angeles this week and will be released in the US and UK on August 10.

Martial arts star Jackie Chan has topped the North American box office with his film Rush Hour 3, which also features actor Chris Tucker.

The movie earned $50.2m (£24.8m) over the weekend, knocking last week's chart-topper, Matt Damon's The Bourne Ultimatum, down to second place.
