Let's see, out of the two commercials mentioned I think the second one is the winner.
It really gets its message across without being really offensive. It's a good one. ;D
I also can't imagine a commercial like that being shown a few years ago. It would have been banned I'm sure. At least they (the people who produced that commercial) didn't take a "South Park" kind of humor route with it -- now that would really have been offensive.

I think the best US commercial I have seen in the past 8 years was the Axe Body spray commercial (can't find it on YouTube >:() where the guy goes over to his girlfriend's house and her mother comes onto him. The disclaimer at the end is hilarious.
The other is a recent one for an insurance company where everyone is dancing in the streets and there is an animated bird in it. It looks real uppity and happy until a tree limb flattens this guy's car. Horrible description, but I've only seen it once or twice.
