Subject: Collecting *virtual* things online

a new phenomenon.
People I know actually collect things that are online. One boasts 2000 funn clips stored on YouTube- or someone collects pictures of funny animals. These are a bit different from making your old photo album, or taping something special off the TV I think. It can be lost as easily as you found it and there is an intangible aspect to this...I like having the items in my home that I can hold or show someone. If you colect images online, you are just sitting at the computer-
and, having collected online, you really just pushed a few buttons...you didn't scour the yeard sales or fight someone at a bargain bin for anything.
I am on the fence, but do you think collecting things online is kinda weird?
Remember...I don't mean buying on Ebay. I mean collecting virtual things.

Guilty as charged. Interesting topic and I'mean that in a good way... ;)
I save pics of all kinds of things: pics of toys or posters and related garbage of things I used to have or haven't seen in a long time. Case in point - I found piccys of the Batman talking alarm clock I had when I was a kid. A boombox I got for Christmas in 1981. My Masketron action figure. Piccys of my old Mongoose BMX (same color, same MotoMags, same pads ::)). I can't find this stuff anywhere else. Can't say that I would like to own them once more, but it's nice seeing them again, even if it's only a picture. Sooner or later most of this stuff ends-up deleted, anyway, when I need to make room on the 'puter...

I mean, seriously, who'd want to own this thing, for real? Never woke me up anyway...

I collect dead relatives on line. ;D
I've found quite a few of my "living impaired" relatives on line. Cruising genealogy sites is fun. :)

Eagon Spengler collects weird things... ;)
By collecting things you meant photos of things, like merchandise, that you may or may not have actually bought, right? Not just pictures in general...
