What sux about the 00's is that nobody refers to , for example, 2002 as "ought 2" or 2007 as "ought 7".

I was looking forward to that too.  :-[

I chose Reality TV. It's really defined this decade - and has really taken away from what good TV is all about.

"Reality" TV will always be much more disgusting than reality itself.

I would say "The Tabloid Obessession" is the worst out of this list because I don;t want to hear about Britney Spears or Paris Hilton anymore although Paris you really don;t hear about anymore. I mean the "The Tabloid Obession" I don;t remember it being part of the 90's until 1999 once Puff Daddy and Jennifer Lopez started to date thats when the whole Tabloid Obssesion started I think.

As for Reality TV it dominated the first half of the 00's(2000-2004) but its popularity kinda faded out and it got demoted to cable TV channels from mainstream network channels that it was previously on.

As for the whole EMO thing it was kinda popular for a like a year there from mid 2005-mid 2006 but it wasn't all over the place like Rap music was(2003-early 2006.)

I think "American Idol" is avoidable I mean all you gotta do is to change the channel to avoid it.

Bush Administration and reality TV.

I think the whole mediocracy of the Bush administration minutely contributes to the staleness of pop culture today. I strongly believe politics and pop culture feed off each other, and the dissatisfaction with Bush contributes heavily to the "screw it" stale feeling in pop culture today.

I turned on MTV one day and they had a commercial on, poking fun of its own network and its lack of music programming by having words pop across the screen that said "We don't play music." I feel like the media isn't trying very hard because its imitating the incompetence of Bush.  Maybe one day the 00s will be seen as the ultimate "whatever decade", a lull in pop culture where people just stopped trying and gave up for a while.
